We need to revamp the Basketball Program. Everything about it. This job is a bad job. We just got embarrassed on CBS when it was pointed out we did all the leg work on Sean Miller for “months”, basically opening up the possibility of him returning to coaching, only to see another school come in and get him. While I understand why he ended up at Xavier, the comments on how this job is viewed are concerning, and true. It’s been a bad job for years. Fogler said it. Odom said it. Martin should’ve said it. We’ve had a few decent coaches, but the best we’ve been able to get is mediocre basketball.

What to do? I don’t know. Have to start with facilities. Build a “Basketball Operation” facility like football has. Personally I’d gut the old Coliseum and move back there. Is a much better environment for basketball, and while large, has a college feel. I know it’s not that easy, but something dramatic has to be done. I’m not sure there is a coach that is available out there that is going to get us where we we all want this program to be.

Even if it is true CBS, ESPN or any other Network shouldn't Be Ok to say it. Really am Disappointed about not getting Miller. The Right Coach could win big here. Look at Our Final Four Run. Sure we are never going to Out Recruit Tobacco Road or Some of the ACC Schools Syracuse, etc. But We can be successful. My Gosh We just want to go to the NCAA Tournament Occasionally and some form of Post Season BB Tournament. That shouldn't be to much to ask.

I don't have an issue with any of the analysts stating what is obvious. ESPN did a write up a couple of weeks ago about the disfunction in regards to UGA and their basketball program.
Now if its hatchet job for the purpose of advancing a personal vendetta then that is another matter altogether.

I`ll say it again. Ask Dawn Staley who we should go after, then go after him, whoever it is.
Going a little further...
Give Dawn another role - Associate AD for basketball. If she can play in the WNBA while coaching Temple, she can do this. Let her make all basketball decisions for both MBB and WBB, including the next MBB coach. I'd trust her to make a good hire more so than who we've got handling it now.

Maybe its just Tanner? We have had name coaches come here and they were hired by a true A/D. To me Tanner will always be an excellent baseball coach and not a true A/D.

Start by getting a “real” AD with vision and a backbone who is respected in the college athletic community on a national level.
Good start. It seems like all you have to do to be seriously considered as a candidate for a HC position in a major sport here is “really love the state”. Good freaking grief. I love BJ, but if that’s who we hire, we didn’t even try.

Somehow, I don't think she'd be interested in that. He focus seems to be growing the women's game, and such would take away from that.

Now for sure, I hope that her opinions/suggestions were solicited.
