I am more convinced that ever that replay is ridiculous

After watching the FSU/UVA game last night. The could actually show the feed from the "situation room" or whatever where the officials were discussing the replay. On UVA's score in OT, the receiver was WELL in-bounds. Live speed there was absolutely zero question about whether it was good or not. There wasn't anything remotely questionable about it. But of course they reviewed it. Goodness, from all the discussion, you'd think they were coordinating a top secret drone strike against hostiles in Iran. On UVA's score in OT, it wasn't even close. I always thought it was pointless. Now that the curtain has been lifted and I've heard the actually discussion, I now that it is totally absurd.

I like how they handle the reviews in the ACC. I came away with the opposite opinion. And I think the player's right foot looked very close to being in or not.

It's the ''when to review and when not to review'' and the awkward timing of the decision which drives fans crazy.

Only two things bug me about replay. 1) When "the booth" buzzes in a review for targeting when no targeting was called on the field....absurd. 2) When they review a play and *STILL* get it wrong ---- Ala our game against Bama when they came to Columbia ranked #1 and we beat them. Alshon Jeffries (I think - one of our WR's) caught a semi-circus sideline pass and the announcers and the TV crew kept on watching the feet to see if the feet were in bounds. This review seemed to go on and on but indeed the feet were inbounds. It was ruled a "catch" and the play stood. Meanwhile, I was watching the ball .....because you had to "secure" the catch *AND* get the feet down....the ball was bobbling the *WHOLE TIME* -- TV announcers never caught it, replay didn't catch it either. Go back and watch that replay of the game, you'll find it.

Now it worked out for us in that game, but as a person with integrity who loves college football, I just shook my head at that ruling. They review it and still get it wrong. Lol. Admittedly, it is rare, but it bugs me.

We must be talking about different plays. He got both feet in bounds. Easily. But they reviewed it like it was the D-day landing.

I wonder how one cracks into being an instant replay person. I've never seen a replay where the call wasn't immediately obvious after viewing one replay angle. I could do replays in 10 seconds or less.

Yes, by your self. Did you listen to everything going on during the process? It definitely sounded like a group effort. And I think it has to be unanimous. Not getting done in 10 seconds. And we may indeed be talking about a different play.

The quality of refereeing in college athletics is worse now than it has ever been. Rarely do you watch a game when the referees don't play a major role in the outcome. The white hat should be required to have a post game press conference.
