I asked Grok AI to build us a championship roster.

Using only division 1 players thst have already announced they’re entering the portal and current Kentucky players with eligibility left that have not announced they’re leaving.

This is what it came up with:

starters:

Pg Jackson Shelstad 6’0 Jr Oregon
Sg Neoklis Avdalas 6’7 So Va Tech
Sf Pualius Murauskas 6’8 Sr St Mary’s
Pf Kam Williams 6’8 Jr Kentucky
C Malachi Moreno 7’0 So Kentucky

Bench: Colin Chandler, Jasper Johnson, Dedan Thomas 6’1 Jr LSU, Andrija Jelavich, Mouhamed Dioubate, Brandon Garrison, Braydon Hawthorne, Reece Potter

If I were to use AI it wouldn't be Grok

I’m honestly not a fan of that roster. I was just curious what others thought. Not enough shooting. starting 3 guys at the 1-3 spots that are all below 33% from 3 seems like a bad idea.

Also kept more of our current roster than i would prefer.

This roster loses in the round of 32

Interesting. Did you force Jasper Brandon and Mo, or did your model choose them over other players.

Asked Copilot for fun to evaluate our current roster. Results were:

⭐ Strengths

  • Excellent forward depth (Dioubate, Garrison, Jelavić, Moreno)
  • Perimeter scoring upside (Chandler, Johnson)
  • Strong developmental pipeline (Potter, Hawthorne, Williams)

⚠️ Weaknesses

  • No proven lead guard yet—portal target needed for starting PG
  • Heavy reliance on returning sophomores making leaps
  • Loss of star scorers Oweh & Aberdeen creates offensive pressure
Has our weaknesses about right (missing Pope's rotations and our lack of conditioning). Would not agree with most of the Strengths, unless we were playing in a non-P5 conference.

The Copilot results of the same question asked by Dward13, but add in Stokes:

⭐ Starters:

  1. PG – Neoklis Avdalas (Transfer)
  2. SG – Collin Chandler (Returner)
  3. SF – Tyran Stokes (Five‑Star Recruit)
  4. PF – Mo Dioubate (Returner)
  5. C – Brandon Garrison (Returner)

⭐ Top Bench:

  • Jasper Johnson
  • Mason Williams
  • Christian Harmon (Transfer)
  • Jack Karasinski (Transfer)
  • Andrija Jelavić
  • Malachi Moreno
  • Anton Bonke (Transfer)

⭐ Additional Depth:

  • Kam Williams
  • Trent Noah
  • Reece Potter
  • Braydon Hawthorne

Just shenanigans!

I told it 13 players. And to use only players that have already announced they’re entering the portal and kentucky players that havent yet announced and still had eligibility left.

That was the only parameters.

it actually took several minutes for the result as well.

The “I asked AI” posts are something I could do without.

Do your own thinking.
Same.

Also sick the copy paste AI posts.

If it’s got a bunch of bullet points and uses 1000 words to say what could be said in 300, it’s AI.

AI also hallucinates. I asked Chat GPT for a list of college basketball coaches who coached the same school in more than one tenure.

It told me Rick Pitino coached at UL twice, including from 2023 to present. It told me Lon Kruger coached KSU twice. It said Larry Brown coached UCLA twice. None of these actually happened but the tool said it brimming with confidence.

I called it out and it was like “Yeah, you’re right.”

Critical thinking skills are already virtually nonexistent. Just wait until everyone just asks AI and takes whatever it spits back out as absolute gospel.

Alright, papaw stepping back off his soapbox.

No knock on you OP but AI in general is awful. This is reminiscent of that thread where ChatGPT had UK winning it all.

Anyone using AI for anything serious, just be careful. Remember that you have a brain, and it's elite. So beautiful. Like a classy *** Maybach. AI is Poop's Ferrari.

Since you only asked about the roster, it didn't evaluate for the coaching. I wonder if Pitino could get St Johns as far as they got this year with that AI roster.

You’re right about Chat GPT… OFTEN WRONG…. and always backpedals when you call it on their results .. “You’re right”…always their answer…

Why do you think anyone cares what the AI told you? If I wanted to know what some AI bot says, I'd ask the AI bot. All you're doing is telling us BOTH that you can't think for yourself AND that you have no idea how to interact with other humans.
