That’s definitely not true. And I like Adou, I wish he had stayed. But he’s not a Cat, he left a blue blood who adored him to follow a charlatan to a rival program. I realize what Reed did and don’t like it as much as anyone else. He’s hurt himself here for sure and I’m not sure it’ll ever be the same. But to claim he’s on level with a player who bolted for a rival is ridiculous.

I do like Adou won’t lie. And he was put in rough spot. But he’s not a Cat. And Reed never considered going to Arkansas than we know of. The only thing reported is he was deciding between coming back to UK or pro. I see no way Reed would have left Kentucky. Adou did.

The teenager that gave us 110% every minute that he was here. LOL at people acting like he's dead to them because he chased his dreams instead of doing what they wanted him to do.
Screw his “dreams”. He won nothing here or at ArkAnna’s. Was that his “dreams”?

I think he will do well for the Lakers potentially.

We have had a lot of players transfer out over the years. It's part of the game. Plus, idk if he left due to wanting to or due to Pope not wanting hum back. So I'm not gonna bash thiero.

How is Reed more of a Wildcat? Because his daddy was? Last I looked Adou hadn’t disrespected the University. Reed doesn’t get to ride the coattails of his daddy to qualify as a Cat.

Doesn’t seem like it would even be a close call. Yes, Reed is a legacy player. His dad is a FF MVP and NC. His mother was a record setter here. Reed has been involved with UK basketball since a child. I think that’s more than just saying “because his dad played here”. Reed might have wore a T-shirt of another team, while wearing UK at the same time, but Adou PLAYED for a rival and left the program. He is a Razorback. Reed was deciding between coming BACK to UK or going pro. Not leaving his home where he’s from and where his family legacy is.

Reed has held events at UK and has said since leaving he is a “Kentucky” player.

I didn’t like what he did at all and it’s hurt him here. But this isn’t even a close call. Adou not a Kentucky guy and will never be back here that’s just well understood it’s how he works. Reed will be here long after he’s done and so will his parents.

Also Adou completely disrespected this university or program. He left for another team and came here on another roster, and finished wearing another jersey. That’s called a traitor in most books.

Sorry but he isn’t a Wildcat in my eyes because of his mom and dad. He has to earn that (like Brad Calipari did). You can put lipstick on that pig all day but I’m not buying it. I’d be willing to consider walk ons that never even practiced a Cat before someone because of their daddies association, at least they are loyal To the university and did what was asked of them.

It just matters in this case because of what his parents have sacrificed here. They weren’t just players, they’re one of the first families. It wasn’t simply a OAD player who has no affiliation to Kentucky. Reed played the role perfectly until his coach left. It was a tough spot to be in. Did he handle it right? No he didn’t. And it’s hurt him here. But I’m not sure we should read more into it than that, until he gives us a reason to. So far his only response since has been “I’m a Kentucky boy”. Because of what his family has done for this university I think it’s fair to cut him slack until he does more. It’s not just about his parents though, Reed did play here and never left for another program. I’m just looking at it full circle. Some of the slack in cutting is for his dad sure.

I don’t think we should write it off completely as a traitor until he shows some kind of a pattern, not making a mistake because his coach left and his teammates were playing there.

Reed isn’t malicious. As anyone that knows him, he didn’t mean by that what many are making it out to be. His teammates wanted him to do it and sent a shirt. He thought he’d wear it with UK pants and show support to both. He didn’t think about it beyond that. Good to remember Reed was 18 years old. Those are his friends.

I also don’t think Reed has shown enough toward Pope and UK since leaving. So I do want to see more but he just got to the NBA and he’s busy I get it. But if there’s one thing I haven’t liked, it’s not enough goodwill toward Pope for my taste.

Having said that Adou is 100% not a Kentucky guy. You can’t leave Kentucky and wear another jersey and ever be welcomed back here. Point remains, Reed is a Cat and Adou is not.

Who said he was a Wildcat? Who even cares? He's a nice young man who's fun to watch and just happens to be the son of a legendary UK player.

Geez. Like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Again, I’m not considering him a Cat because of someone else actions. He has to earn that right of passage himself. It doesn’t matter how many times you restate it. I never brought up him being a traitor so please don’t change what we are discussing. We are discussing someone being a Cat because of their parents. At the most winning school in history. Sorry but you earn your own keep. If it makes you feel better you can look up
To him but I defer to earning it via your own merit.

I don’t believe Shep left to attend another school and celebrated beating us.
He celebrated his own team winning. How dare he! (sarcasm)
As for going on to another school, it's ignorant to think that players don't develop relationships with their coaches (Head & assistants). And he had to do what he thought was best for his career development. Like I told my son as a SR in HS looking at colleges (academics) "even if you choose UNC or Duke, that's fine, you do NOT pick your school based on their sports teams".
Whereas Reed Sheppard (his dad was "Shep", not him) wore the shirt of a rival school, one he never played for.

I guess everyone has an opinion of Reed, as a Cat. I thought he represented us fantastically . Those that are upset about him wearing an Arkansas shirt last year seem to me, a bit sensitive. But, that's just my take. He really, really liked his coach and, was at the same time, showing his support for UK. I must be slow. I cant get the hate or even dislike for him simply because of that action. Lets move on. Other things are brewing right now in the UK environment. Peace
