I'm at a Bar Mitzvah a few weeks back I see my best friend's sister Lisa who I haven't seen in a few years. She's two years older than I am.

I said Lisa "Wow, that dress has a nice silhouette on you." I meant to convey that it looked nice on her, my wife was standing right next to me as was her mother, when I utter those words.

Fast forward, I get a call from my sister who just bumped into her. She tells my sister my first words to her the night of the Bar Mitzvah was "she looked fat in her dress".

Shabbat Shalom

Sheesh... It's not like you said "You don't sweat much for a fat chick."

Is that really what you said?
Or was the sentence, "Wow, that dress has a nice shadow on you and anyone when you stand between them and the sun."

Man: “You really fill out that dress.”

Woman: “So, you think I’m fat!”

Man: 😞

I have to admit the phrase, "Wow, that dress has a nice silhouette on you.", has never passed my lips. I don't think it's ever even crossed my mind, Mr. Potter. Then again it was better than commenting how "that diet isn't working too well, is it?"

Recently on this board, we've had folks describing in detail how they like to watch young girls thrust their hips, tell people they haven't seen in a long time and they aren't that close to how they like their silhouette, question how someone could even talk to another woman in the presence of their wife ... and we had laKa actually try to tell someone else how to talk ... and he was actually correct.

The creepiness factor here has reached 11.

You didn't say it but we can infer from the story that, indeed, Lisa is fat.

11 is just the first rung of the ladder on how creepy we can get.

It certainly does seem like an odd thing to say. I don’t know that it’s inappropriate, but it’s definitely weird.

Your comment was truthful, if not sincere -- however, she is not PHAT - just FAT and obviously did look like it ! Her loss ....

No one described in detail how they like to watch young girls trust their hips. They described in detail how the exercise was performed. Big difference.

that's what she said..........
You need to pay me for being your straight man. Wow, am I oblivious. Comes with my profession, if you ask my wife’s opinion. The obliviousness part, not the “not that hard” part.

Poorly played, silhouette was poor choice. Who talks like that anyway? Super weird bro.

try “you look great“ next time
Or just "nice dress". Not to exonerate her though, she did completely misrepresent the situation. She basically lied. He committed a social faux pas by using an odd word; she lied and basically defamed him as mean and insensitive.

At least you didn’t say “when are you due?”
I didn't quite go there but once I ran into a girl I hadn't seen in 2 years. in that time she had gotten married and gained considerable weight, which was a surprise to me. upon greeting her I said "congratulations". She looked at me puzzled and said "for what"?
