I come in peace. What was up with the kick at the end of the 1st half?

Did the coach make a bad call or did the kicker just mess up? I don't know why you don't just kick it OB with 10 seconds left?

We wanted to give our great defense more playing time before the half.
Seriously I don't know, it was a mystery to all of us as well. Boneheaded comes to mind. From there it just went from bad to worse.

I had no problem w/ the squib kick. In fact, it's done alot. With ten seconds on the clock why risk a return? What occurred though a muffed squib kick. Which then forces the OU defense to protect a hail mary pass. So the GA offense tosses an out pass coupled w/ a quick T.O. What happens next? A kid sets an all time FG record in the Rose B owl w/ a friggin' 55 yrd FG. Play calling wasn't the issue. Execution was.

OU Special Teams play was flat ****** tonight.
1. Muffed squib kick
2. Terrible, I do mean terrible punting
3. Blocked FG

Those three kicking game meltdowns, plus some long kickoff returns when Siebert had to kick into the wind doomed OU.
Georgia's FG to close the 1st half was a game changer, much like Jordan Shipley's 96 yard kickoff return in the 2008 Texas game after OU had built a 14-3 lead early in the 2nd quarter. Both involved the kicking game and both were ultimately costly.

I agree, but there was no wind whatsoever.

I have to think that Siebert simply miss-kicked. He had to be trying to get it OVER the first row of Georgia players.....whatever.
Why didn't he just aim for the sidelines inside Georgia's 25-30 yard lines ?????
Strange to think of a three point play playing such a crucial part in a 54-48 game, but it sure as **** did !

He’s kicked almost every kickoff out of the end zone. Almost zero chance of return.

If you’re worried about an 80 yard Hail Mary more than a long field goal, you’re crazy. Georgia played that to perfection, with the quick out for a few yards to get their kicker in position on the side of the field he wanted.

Whether others do it or not in other situations is irrelevant. It was the wrong call.

That Buddy Holly kicker (I wear glasses too) had already clunked once; no need for giving up 3 and a huge momentum surge

If the kick went flawless, we wouldn't even be posting about it. It is what it is. Piss poor execution. Which occurred often w/ the kicking game. There was seriously bad punts as well. Were they bad calls too? No. Just more piss poor execution. Let's face it and call it as it is... Siebert had his worst game ever as a Sooner.

I don't know what to tell you. I was there. There wasn't any wind. It was 72 and without wind. Felt like being indoors.

A ball traveling 60-70 mph creates its own wind.

Not debating you.
All I'm saying is Siebert's kickoffs got shorter in the second half.
