there is something about the movie Rudy that just gets to me. And I can’t figure it out. Just watched it for the culzillion time and still teared up when Rudy finally got the admittance letter to Notre Dame. What is wrong with me?

Nothing wrong with you Bama but look into how some feel about the 'real Rudy' sometime. It's a compelling story but there's a lot of animosity out there about the guy...

Please don’t mess with my appreciation of the movie. Even though I really understand it’s only a movie.

Rudy the movie did little for me. I really enjoyed a visit dining at Notre Dame's North Dining Hall with some faculty members around 2000. Good people. We dined on Ore-Ida french fries and Minute Maid orange juice. Notre Dame and Air Force are the only colleges I've visited with manned guard gates. I found the ND coeds as ugly as Playboy Magazine told me they were and Ohio State coeds as beautiful.

Rudy's a pretty good movie. I like the message of the "little guy" fighting against the odds to live his dream. I guess there has been a "Rudy" at nearly every major school, but ND made theirs a legend first, so they get the notoriety.

I think a movie on Bob Kalsu would be a much more fascinating and inspiring story.

Robert was a great guy even back in junior high. He never let his athleticism or popularity get ahead of himself. Never an upperclassman bully which was pretty common back in the early 60’s in Del City and Midwest City schools. I doubt his success at OU changed him much. As a result his story probably wouldn’t be enough for Hollywood except for his tragic and patriotic death. Ive never met a nicer person and anyone that knew him still thinks of him frequently.

Sooners had a 93-10-2 record from 1950-59. Beating ND those three times would have made it 96-7-2.....seven losses in ten years.

OU never lost a football game the 3 years I lived in Germany. Every Saturday at the Hanau Pioneer army theater the Sooners made the news reel during football season.

I listened at Walt's News Stand in Lawton on the radio when OU lost to ND. A guy had a heart attack. Everyone was in shock except for me.

Seems ole Rudy got into some trouble with Securities Fraud, a pump and dump scheme and had to pay almost 400,000 in fines, I think it was 2011.
One thing I have read is he said the crowd at that game he got to dress for never chanted Rudy Rudy Rudy yet in another interview a few years earlier he said they did and he cried when he talked about it. Strange, how could you not remember if they did or not?
Good movie tho.

Like every single “true story” there was a lot of fiction. The Rudy chant and the jersey scene are two. It pissed me off when I found out but then so what. Like you say, it’s still a good flick.

Memory isn't permanent. Basically memory specialists believe now that every time you access a memory you re-write it effectively changing it a little each time.

I will always hate not-her shame for breaking our long winning streak in Bud's days
Had OU won that day against Notre Dame in 1957, I would have witnessed a 53-game streak ending with the Texas loss a year later in 1958 (15-14).
I dislike Texas more than ND and having Texas break a long winning streak would, for me, be tougher to take.
