Because if he has any off season setbacks we will really be in trouble next year! I hope that he would embrace this oppurtunity and work with a QB instructor during the off season and really buckle down! He has the quickest release of any QB who has played here! He has a chance to be great if he gets the coaching and works hard!!

I don't know if he will ever be great, I'm not sure it can be done here quite frankly, but I do believe he's matured and that won't be an issue with him moving forward.

After he get's out of class first. He should spend as much time as possible perfecting his passing and the most time in film room studying the defense that is about to take his head off.
Then he will be to tired to get into any trouble...hopefully

Hard to imagine Barker wont be near the top of the new OC's must improve list.

Barker will be fine. I really like that there will not be a competition in the fall. If there is, we are in trouble. He's gonna have some growing pains next season but I believe he will take care of business this off season.

I just have a good feeling about Barker for some reason. Maybe its because we are due for a QB that doesn't suck, but I'm hopeful. Especially if Gran is the new OC.

Hopefully getting ALL the reps will add some consistency to the position. Towles had his issues but it did him no favors to split reps with Barker.

Drew is extremely talented and accurate. He was thrown into a tough spot this year. Anybody judging him off of this past year is either uneducated on football our just so negative the can't see past there own expectations. Stoops took over a team that won 2 games. We won 2 his first year so the trajectory is trending up. Barker wasn't recruited by everybody for sucking. He has tremendous ability and I believe will be a tremendous leader as he matures.

You are right Drew was put into a very tough spot. Factoring in that we had the most predictable play calls, a coach that couldn't scheme an offense for the players that he had, that's just a recipe for disaster. I hate for anyone to lose their job but Shannon Dawson was not ready to be an offensive coordinator in the SEC.

OK reality check. When he's up you will see him praised on the echo chamber board as if he were the second coming. When he's down you'll think you're reading about the back-up to the scout team QB.

Rarely is there fair criticism on here. I think young QB's are thrown in tough spots a lot. He will need to get used to that.

When you make comments that he is extremely talented and accurate folks are naturally going to base their opinions on what they've seen.

His body of work so far doesn't cause me to think either yea or nay.

And Stoops wasn't and still isn't ready to be a head coach in the SEC. And I'm right until he proves me wrong which I pray is soon.

I hope he proves you wrong too. Can't say that I disagree with you but I'm just gonna hope for the best. With the way that Barnhart made his contract we will just have to hope that new staff additions and learning from past mistakes will help him be a better coach for next season.

I saw an accurate Passer in Woodson before he blew up and I was 20 years old. If you know what your looking at fundamentally you can tell if a qb will be accurate. Dawson's biggest issue was trying a vertical passing game with a poor line and pack of vertical threats. Baker is a physical specimen but he needs to be moved inside and used as a big physical possession wr. Hopefully whoever the new oc is uses these wr correctly to suite there skill. I also pray Greenwood has the speed to get down the field. As of right now Badet and Charles walker are the only vertical threats I have seen.

Speaking of Woodson, I can still see his performance in that six overtime game against Arkansas

You don't think Garret Johnson is a downfield threat?

Barker is a mystery now. He looked blah at best this past season, but was put into some tough spots with really no shot to do well IMO. I hope the new OC can utilize him correctly and some people will just stay out of the way and let that happen and let the OC run the offense.

Are you sure that you don't remember Lorenzen (or possibly Boyd) in the 7 OT game with Arkansas instead? Or did Woodson get some PT in that game that I don't remember?

I think/hope Barker will blossom as the designated starter. It will be his third year at Kentucky and everybody knows how much maturing goes on for guys that age. Normally they go from giggling about farts to spending a lot of time with their nose in a book and hands on a project. And I'm not talking about Mary-Sue either.

Nothing I have seen from him gives me much hope for next season but it was his first meaningful snaps at QB in 2 years and the coaches didn't really do him any favors. Hopefully, unlike Towles, he doesn't have to always be looking over his shoulder. UK has to have consistent QB play if they want to succeed.

People seem to forget Barker did not have his 1st or 2nd RB the second half against UL. He was in a very bad situation and was being asked to be the savior with one hand tied behind his back.

Yeah as in saving our season by beating UL and assuring a bowl without our two running backs. I have no idea why Dawson didn't give King a shot. Barker didn't have many weapons to use did he?

So, a person calling himself "redbudman" is hoping that a 19 or 20 year old college kid has "grown up?!" Oh, the irony...
Hard to imagine Barker wont be near the top of the new OC's must improve list.
I live on Redbud Drive! You A$$ wipe! Get your head out of the gutter! If you are on here to just look for mistakes take your pathetic self off the board! I "Know" what the DA STANDS for now and that does not take much imagination! I have forgot more about football than you will ever "think" you know! DUMB ARSE!!!!!
