He needs to stop playing in Chicago then. . . kids are killing kids everday in that war up there. When he comes up with a solution to evil, selfish people trying to get what they want by harming others please let us know, until then we'll keep our Army ready to protect even the ignorant among us.

I love all of these "anti-war:" athletes and common people who are benefiting from America actually answering the call and going to war.

The stupidity of the current American people is really alarming. There are many reasons why no superpower makes it beyond around 50o years, and in Americas case, the overall populous and current IQ levels will be the reason why we fail.

Three thoughts:

1) Anti-war and a conscientious objection are different, though not mutually exclusive, stances. Sounds like he is the latter despite saying he is the former.

2) We do have a problem with mass/school shootings in the U.S.. I disagree with him about what the solution is, but there is plenty of common ground to work with.... if people were so inclined today, which we aren't.

3) Why did West Point think it would be a good idea to invite him? Was it a part of the "We-Have-Almost-Nothing-In-Common speaking series?"

What I find objective to his way of thinking is his thoughts on the military itself; saying war is bad and he is against kids killing kids. Who the hell is not against that?
But in civilized countries like the USA, militaries are a necessary, a way of life sort of, to protect its people from attacks from those like North Korea, Isis, Iran, Hitler, japan, etc.
We, the USA do not go around killing kids. Some get killed in war yes, but it is not by our choosing or wish.
He says he love the United States but does not recognize the fact it is because of our military his fat *** can go about living here the way he does.
I know, everyone has the right to protest and all that. I am so tired of hearing about these rights when the same people saying all this **** enjoys the thousands of other rights that make this country the best place to live, work, raise a family, have opportunities that do not exist in other countries, go to church when you want, just being able to get up and do what we do everyday.
I didn't like his ugly *** when he played at Florida and still do not like his ugly ***.
I can say this because I have the right to free speech!

If I recall correctly, he has some french heritage. Of course he doesn't understand, France knows nothing about fighting. We have protected them throughout history.

No one likes war. It happens to be necessary and has since the beginning of time. In many cases, our involvement in war has been to protect people from dictators.

Which makes for a market of pristine French military weapons for us collectors. Never been fired, and only dropped once. :uzi:

What exactly is the dumb *** protesting by refusing an invitation to meet West Point cadets? Blacklivesmatter? I don't think that applies.

Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that, whether you agree with them or not grew out of the attack on America on 9/11?

West Point didn't vote to go to those wars. Politicians decided. A lot of professional soldiers disagreed with Iraq, but did what the Constitution requires and obeyed civilian elected authority.

The whole, general idea of America having a military?

Noah should ask his French friends and relatives if America having a military is a good thing. If they don't answer in German, then the answer is Oui.

He's just a spoiled, ignorant, insufferable *******. I hope karma finds him fast and is ruthless.

" Of course he doesn't understand, France knows nothing about fighting. We have protected them throughout history. "

Well not throughout history. If it wasn't for France supplying us arms and blocking Yorktown during the American Revolutionary War, we still would have bad teeth and say things like Hello Mate, Sod-off, and tally-ho.

We do live in a complicated world and somehow have evolved from a non-interventionist country to the world's police. However, to remain a super-power it appears you have to protect your global interests which means having the military to do it. I don't mind the protests but it is ironic that it is no longer the college kids, but the extremely rich and likely well over-paid athletes leading the way on these issues. There really is no sacrifice on their part, is there?

Living in Florida, I have a special hate for Ms. Noah...

And of course, what Noah thread would be complete without the Noah History video?

I love when people who are plainly ignorant of history think they're gonna tell the rest of us what history shows.

Hate to break it to you, but we historically owe just as much to France for saving our asses as they do us. Hell, we likely wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for France coming to our aid during our Revolutionary war, and we wouldn't have survived the War of 1812 with a mere draw if it wasn't for France's indirect help kicking British *** during the concurrent Napoleanic Wars. France was our best friend during our nation's early years and they helped save our asses time and again during our first half century.

And, fwiw, we have not fought, nor sacrificed, even a fraction as much in battle as France has historically. Hell, in just ONE war (WWI) France sacrificed more casualties than we have in ALL our wars COMBINED. What France went through in WWI is something not even comprehensible to the American experience.

"It's hard for me a little bit -- I have a lot of respect for the kids here fighting -- but it's hard for me to understand why we go to war and why kids have to kill kids all around the world,'' Noah said.

So because you're too dumb to understand why war occurs, you decide to disrespect those same "kids" who you supposedly respect?

Please. I teach American History and I can tell you from my thesis on intervention pertaining to France, they're as casual about fighting evil as any country you can name. Do some more research because France in the modern era is, well, completely pussified.

I love the old saying, french Milsurp firearms are so valuable because they've never been fired and only dropped twice.

^^^Poor French battle strategies is why their losses were so devastating. Pershing would have nothing to do with their tactics when he went to save their asses.

This and piss poor weapons designed by genius French arms builders. Prime example below is their brilliant WW1 light machine gun. The Chauchat (sho sho) goes down in history as the worst weapon ever issued due to its failure to fire rate.

Checkout the open clip design. Can you say "mud" and "trench war"? The running joke was you gave this gun to the least liked guy in the squad.

These guns were issued to our troops too until nearly the end of the war, although we had the better designed, more reliable Browning BAR. Why? Because some of the genius American strategists were afraid the Germans would copy it's design.
War is hell.

So, for one intervention we must continue to praise a country we have paid back ten fold....got it Pierre. BTW, my wife is half French. Her father was born there and her grandparents brought him here when he was a youngster. He served in Vietnam and agrees with me on most issues including my feelings in this matter.

Was your favorite part of history when Wellington was imprisoned on Elba?

My favorite moment of WW 2 was Churchill ordering France to sail their fleet to the West Indies. When they refused...... Bye bye French Navy. France bombed Gibraltar after that.

France was no friend to America in the early years. I side with Hamilton not Jefferson. France was an opportunist.
