I know it's just the Wyndham tournament but...

Tiger is 6-under after 14 holes. Considering how utterly dreadful he's been pretty much the entire season, any time he starts out this well is welcome. If Tiger would actually become relevant again at least in some capacity, might be really fun to see the youngsters duel him in a tourney or two. There's still a lot more golf to go in this 2nd tier tournament but, so far, so good.

Last week to get into the PGA Tour playoffs at the Wyndham Championship this week.

Tiger needs a win or i think solo 2nd to advance. Off to a good start with a 64 -6 today. I am still very concerned about his chipping. Doesn't have the confidence to chip in spots where he always used to chip, that has to be fixed.

Lead at -8 McGirt, Kaymer -7.

No such thing as a 2nd tier tournament on the PGA tour these days. This is a very good field in an event that has been around for 70+ years.

He has good rounds, it is the 75-76 rounds the next day that is his undoing. This may be a dumb statement, but if I was his caddy I will tell him, "unless it is a wide open fairway, leave the damn driver in the bag and hit 3 wood off the tee." His driver gets him in a ton of trouble and he doesn't have his scrambling ability he once had to over come it.

I am not a Tiger fan at all, but I have found myself yelling at the tv, dammit Tiger, hit 3 wood, leave your driver alone. hate seeing what he has now become, even though not a fan.

Shame that it's come down to starting a thread when Tiger has a good opening round.:D

Never really understood all the Tiger love. Yes, he was dominate for several years, yes he was a damn fine golfer, but he is also an arrogant, self centered ******* that won't even sign autographs for kids after a round. I have no use for him.

How much less could you care?

If I never hear his name again, I could care less. If he wins 5 more majors, I could care less. Pro golf existed before him and will exist without him. There are many more young, great golfers who are better ambassadors of the game on tour now, than him. I just enjoy yanking chains and see who barks loudest.

So you do care.

KyFanin NC,

The correct phrase is 'I COULDN'T care less', not 'I could care less'. If you could care less, that means you care at least a little bit. I couldn't care less means you don't care at all.

Phew, that's over. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.....

Sounds to me like you probably need to start a "Who like teasing pets" thread and limit your golf post. Or better yet, find a kennel of Pitbulls somewhere, have someone lock you in there, and go yank all the chains you can. Maybe they will not just bark.

That course was PRIMED for great scoring yesterday. Tiger has the ability to play great rounds, but he is not close to putting it all together for 4 consecutive days. That is what separates the top echelon of professional players from the rest. Tiger is no longer in the top layer. Maybe some positive results will help Tiger, but he is a mental mess which is the kiss of death for a golfer.

Put 2 good rounds back to back. First 36 hole lead since 2013 WCG Bridgestone which is also his last win.

Interesting tidbit. Sam Snead won his 80th PGA event at this event in 1960. Tiger is sitting on 79. Be kind of neat if he notched his 80th here too.

Thanks for the correction. Always a good feeling we have Paddock Posters that can and will correct any mistakes made by other posters. Keep up the good work.

Tiger returns to the problems that have haunted him lately. Triple bogey pretty much kills any chance that Tiger has to tie Snead this week.

Hard to get real excited about Tiger's performance this week. It was a very weak field or DL III would never have won. Put Tiger in a field with Rory, Spieth, Rose, Day, Dustin and Zach Johnson, et al and let him be right at the lead, and I will sit up and take notice. Against Gore, Blixt, Brown, and a 51 year old Ryder Cup captain . . . on a course where everyone is shooting low 60s? Uh . . meh.
