I now think KAT is the POTY over Okafor

All year I have been saying Okafor is the best player in the country. Karl has really stepped up game lately, and while his numbers are not as good as Okafor, he plays 10 mins less. When adusted, KAT averages 2 more rebs, has 62 more blocks, about 20 fewer turnovers, and trails in scoring by about 2 pts.

Overall, though, the best player on the best team gets the nod in my completely unbiased opinion.

KAT led us to victory.

Had Okafor been in that situation, the opposing team would foul Okafor and he can't hit free throws.

Sort of have to ask yourself. Who would you want in a tight situation with 5 minutes left?

He is as good as Okafor, maybe better. No way I would say Okafor is clearly better.

And he's much, much better defensively.

I don't think we stand a chance of getting one of our guys in serious consideration for a POTY award. Hopefully we can get 1 or 2 on the 1st Team All-American list.

Okafor would probably have about the same minutes, if fouls were called on him the way they are on KAT.

Okafor is a lock for POY. If anyone manages to take it away it will be Kaminsky or Russell could sneak in.

KAT may end up taking top draft spot away from him before it's over.

I know I would take KAT over Okafor. Great post moves, better defender, better jump shooter but the one I think separates them is KAT can play in a close game cause he makes his fouls shots.

Pretty much agree. It might be a tad too late for KAT to take the lead for POY. If this were January and KAT was playing the way he is now, I would put him in first place.

Okafor is going to win it unless Kaminsky does something crazy down the stretch. Russell won't win. They won't let another freshman take it away from Okafor after they've ridden that horse all year.

KAT gets called for two fouls a game that he doesn't commit..... Just as Bilas said last night, he was bigger.... The little man ran as fast as he could and bounced off of him while he was picking up the ball.... The refs have got their eye on Towns because he plays like a man....

KAT will be a better NBA player than Okafor.... I would take KAT as the #1 pick....

As a basketball fan I love both Okafor and KAT's game but if I were voting I would give the award to Okafor. He's been very consistent throughout the season and at times dominant.

RE: the fouls. Exactly. IIRC, a couple weeks ago, KAT was coming off a huge game... gets 2 fouls before the 1st TV timeout, and sits for 16 mins of first half. I haven't checked, but I doubt Okafor has had one of those scenarios?

Okafor can take POY... KAT will 'settle' for just being #1 NBA pick.

I think Kaminsky is the POTY right now. He has better numbers than Okafor and plays for a very good team.

Towns is limited in the race due to our substitution patterns and his propensity to foul. Per minute, he is as good as Kaminsky and Okafor. An inability to stay on the floor hinders his total contribution to winning.

If he was able to stay on the floor we would have a better record than 30-0?

^^^THIS!! And it would be truly poetic if it went down that way and KAT subsequently proved to be the much better NBA player. I have little doubt he will be better in the NBA than Okafor.

Just wanted to clarify that I wasn't predicting KAT would win it. I agree it will most likely be Okafor, with Kaminsky being the dark horse.

No, it's Okafor. WCS doesn't have near the offensive numbers. When they get to the NBA, Willie can swat some of his shots and we'll see who ends up with the better career.
