Granted the American school system does not teach civics so there are people that are not aware that there is a thing written down on a piece of paper that we all have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. The player and the coach should both still be there in Morgantown, but both of them were not protected by their constitutional rights. One was fired and the other forced to leave.
