It’s math at this point. Win 6 and he’s back if he wants to be. Win 4 and he’s not. Win 5 and it gets dicey but he’s still probably ready to move on.

None of us know him and we don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. But stoops was emotional in the post game interview. He sounded ready to end his story on a high note here at Kentucky. He was literally choking back tears.

I will not root for my cats to lose. I won’t do it. It’s all out of my hands anyways. I will enjoy football and the chips will fall where they may. But as a fan I will not be bummed out over a win.

Their hearty embrace on the field postgame like it was a playoff win makes me think they had an unofficial agreement that last night’s outcome would determine the plan for next year. Beating one of the worst teams coached by perhaps the biggest doofus in the league to seal your first SEC win in two years shouldn’t be a very momentous occasion. Perhaps I’m just a Scrooge about such things though.

It shouldn't but that hug at the end didn't look like an AD ready to make a change. A win over UF, Vandy or u6 might be enough for him to give Stoops another year. Again, it shouldn't but will be surprised if it doesn't.

I noticed that hug and the emotion shown by the AD. I thought “There’s his excuse to not make a change”. Beating Auburn this year is not much of an accomplishment. Auburn’s offense was horrible, and Kentucky was fortunate that was the case otherwise they would’ve lost.

The right thing for Stoops to do is to agree to a buy out and step away.

Can’t an AD be happy for his football coach that just got their first SEC win in a year plus? Jesus. You guys are pathetic. I get it, nobody is happy with where the program is. But damn…winning in the SEC isn’t easy. Auburn has played the wheels off of the best teams in the SEC. The Cats go to Auburn and get a W…and this is how “fans” react to an AD being happy for his coach and team. Weak.

I bet you're a real hoot at a party. Lighten up I was just trying to be funny. I'm glad they won the game last night. I'm happy for them. It's not easy but I'm also not happy where the program is either. Again the picture and the caption was a joke. Sorry it obviously bothered you so much.

If it were up to me he'd have to win the next three games to keep his job. Well, actually he'd have been gone for at least a year but from where we are now that would be my decision. I love how the defense played yesterday but how does the same defense give up 59 the prior game?

I think 2 more wins and he probably keeps his job and truth be told, I could argue either way. He is the all time winningest coach at UK which ought to count for something. But the last two or three years have really tailed off.So the trend is not good, either

An AD shouldn't be happy with one sec win.
Beyond that, it should be more like an employer-employee relationship, not a giving your BFF's ridiculous undeserved salaries and contracts relationship.
Nepotism seems to be Barnhart's biggest failing.

Does him being the all time losingest coach at UK count for anything?

We need stoops to go on a bit of a run. We really do. We need to avoid that 30 mil buyout we don't have. The program needs some momentum going into what surely will be an easier schedule next year.
Are you serious??? It will only get tougher with 9 SEC games. The offense will be just as enept as it is now with Stoopid at the helm, we sucked last night and couldn't score more than 10 points off a bad Auburn team. Nothing is going to change with Stoopid at the helm, he'll never change and we'll be stuck with 1980s Big 10 style football which in this day and age, is losing football. Bob Stoops he isn't

Did Mitch really need a reason? He was never going to fire him anyway, especially after so many programs have jobs openings. I mean, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Penn ST, UCLA, Arkansas, OK ST, VA TECH, and that's just off the top of the head. Mitch is not going to fight it out with those dogs. The only hope for UK might be if a coach thinks Barnhart is a ***** and they can get a sweet deal.

If CMS reconciled with his wife, I'd be tempted to hope he comes back. That divorce was the culprit imo
BINGO!!!! This ⬆️ right here is what changed Mark Stoops! Way more dedicated coach when he was a married man! His divorce literally took his will and likely a LOT of his effort on and off the field. I seem to recall more than a few posters that are very familiar with Mark that have hinted at this. Sad for him and sad for us too.

In that case he should have been fired when he was divorced.
