Normally, I'm a plugger. I never made much money but I lived sparsely, pay cash and saved 10% every year so I'll be ok. That is how I approach life.

We talk on the board about progress and it has been slow but evident in BB since CC came to town. The vibe I get on the board is this is the year to get in the tournament at least as a bubble team and next year we will be even better.

Here is the thing. I'm thinking CC isn't a plugger. It's my way, but not his way. I'm thinking Carmody got us from A to B in a decade of faithful service and CC is the kind of guy that will get from B to C all at once. This team seems to be improving even as the season goes forward. B Mac has only had one really good game and look where NU is.

I think it is a real possibility that NU is the Big Story Team in BB this year. The young guys have grown up, only a select remnant remains of the old guard and it is coming together. Remember this post when we get to the sweet 16.

Pluggers don't make a big splash but CC isn't a plugger.

How can you win 25 conference games when the schedule offers 18, plus up to 5 conference tourney games?

It is his 4th year building from the ground up. Still classifies as a plugger. Just that his trajectory is better than what you think of a plugger to be.

Not so sure. Based on RPI, we have very tough opponents ahead in PU (2x), IU (2x), Maryland, and Wisconsin. Illinois (2x), despite its struggles, will not be a cakewalk. The other thing is that we have already beaten Nebby and RU, so playing them again is a bit tougher, IMO. It's just hard to beat a team twice in the same season.

Fortunately, NU played UNL and RU away and I think the Cats will win at home.....

A plugger wins one more game every year. First you're a bubble team or NIT, then you get in with out the play in game the next year, then three years from now you win a game in the tournament.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I think we may bust out this year, right now.

Instead of an inch forward year, being a bubble team, one and done, yahoo we made it. I think we may see a jump forward year. The work that CC has done couldn't happen totally over night but, now with mostly his guys starting in his program, a little older and stronger, I'm thinking we do much better than just squeaking in (which would be exciting all by itself).

I'm thinking we are in the B1G total game and going deeper in the tournament than we dreamed. Ending the season a top 20 team.
