If Barney was going out on a limb he should’ve hired Ben McCollum that’s in his first season as head coach at Iowa.
A winner wins wherever they are.

4 NCAA Division II National Titles: (2017, 2019, 2021, 2022).
12 MIAA Regular Season Titles & 8 MIAA Tournament Titles: Demonstrating consistent conference dominance.
Undefeated Season: Led the Bearcats to a 38-0 record in 2018-19, a rare feat in D-II.
National Recognition: Won the NABC Division II Coach of the Year award multiple times (2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022).
Player Development: Coached multiple National Players of the Year, All-Americans, and MIAA award winners.

McCollum comes to Iowa after leading Drake to a 31-4 record that included the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament championships in his one season there. The Bulldogs reached the second round of the NCAA tournament, losing to Texas Tech in the second round on Saturday.

McCollum takes over an Iowa program that went 17-16 this season and finished in a tie for 12th in the Big Ten at 7-13.

Iowa is currently ranked and has only two losses. Both coming to teams ranked in the top 7. One was a 66-62 loss at number 4 ranked Iowa St.
Can you imagine the Corning we would get at Iowa State? 😳

McCollum is only 44 years old. Maybe we can cut ties with Pope and hire him. He will land an elite job and win big. Remember his name.

Mccollum probably isn’t leaving Iowa. He supposedly had offers before he took the drake job and turned them down because he wanted something closer to home. He was born in Iowa City.

But yeah I wanted him last year too. Bernhardt doesn’t have the balls for a hire like that though.

Iowa’s ppg doesn’t look low.
Scored 81,74,83,74 in wins over Xavier, Ole Miss, Maryland, and UCLA.

And that’s 4 better wins than we have.

Iowa was 17-16 last season and he coached at Drake. Maybe he hasn’t had the talent to play fast yet.

And yet, they are a system team that intentionally plays slower than almost any other team in the country. Beyond that, they are 177th in the percentage of shots they take from 3 and 211th in percentage of scoring that comes from 3 pointers.

Again, it's an effective approach that would work at a number of different schools. Kentucky just isn't one of them.

No if his style is that slow it would not work here.
What we have now isn’t working either.

Maybe we can at least get a Barnhart resignation.

I hope he is the one making the hire because he is here until at least July 2028. I can’t fathom having Pope here 3 more seasons.
Nope. I want a hire like Stein and Cal. Ex cats plus boosters team up. Not limp d*** Barney counting his Pennies in between bible study to talk to any future coach. He can hire the the next badminton or water polo coach

Barney wanted to distract the fanbase with his hire because it happened when that lawsuit of the rape case was about to drop. He knew it and went for the most emotionally consuming coach he could bring in. This is all anyone at the time talked the about. The swim coach civil rape case stuff was glossed over by the media. A couple articles. It’s like the vacated football season and no real questions asked. Barney operates in nefarious ways.he may be a bigger narcissist than cal. I mean who names the sports complex after themselves? Or allows for that to happen? Autocrats do that crap.

To #ell with Barnhart he has done nothing but screw over our Men's Basketball Program. He cannot be trusted to have anything to do with the hiring of our next Men's BB Coach, PERIOD.

How do you know it’s limp? 😂

What‘s wrong with him? He looks more qualified than the guy we have.
He won a game in his one Division 1 NCAAT while coaching at Drake.
And killed it in Division 2.
He was referring to Barney
