I think we are in the hire a legend phase of our dysfunction. So, somebody like Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Pete Carroll, etc.

And please don’t say Franklin. Would be a Muschamp-esque hire.
Have you ever watched football?

Muschamp had a .571 win percentage in 4 years at UF.

Franklin was .615 at Vandy and .697 at PSU.

Franklin led the worst team in the SEC to back-to-back 9-win seasons and top 25 finishes. Something that will likely never be replicated there. At PSU, he did everything but win a title, which is why he was fired.

Franklin would easily become the best football coach we've ever had.

That's a BIG assumption by you.
I know you want Franklin as coach but you have no way of knowing how he would do here.

It's based partly in the understanding that we have a VERY low bar here for best coach ever. I don't think he'd win a title or anything wild like that, but I am confident we'd win 8-9 games a year consistently.

As I've said many, many times, follow our history. If you do, you will see that we have had success hiring a YOUNG, proven successful Head Coach from a FBS team. There are coaches at lower level FBS schools (sub P4) who fit that criteria.

Saban Wouldnt come here, Fanklin would probably be best (Available and wanted it) Option. Myer i dont think wants to get involved in another Rebuilding scenario!

I doubt Franklin would be interested in coming to South Carolina. He has already done his penance building a program from nothing at Vandy. He probably doesn't want to do that again and risk damaging his coaching reputation. He is going to go to a place with a solid foundation and a winning tradition.

Meyer wouldn't touch this job with a ten foot pole. He has only ever been interested in jobs where there are tons of built in advantages. South Carolina does not have many advantages at all.

I could see Franklin going to the ACC. Maybe UNC after the current train wreck is over. Maybe an FSU (Clemson if Dabo gets the boot). I could see him doing really well in the ACC. No way he wants to come back to the SEC or BIG 10....

VT is the current favorite to get him. It would be perfect for him.

Saban or Meyer would obviously be huge but I just don’t see them coming back at all. I had a John Green thought but don’t know how he would recruit. I feel like Carolina needs a Spurrier like name to get back to winning. I still like Beamer a lot obviously but Florida canned Napier. If Shane goes 5-7 or worse next season I can’t see how he stays.

How? Muschamp has only ever had a 70% win percentage at the buffet. Franklin won at Vandy and won at a clip of over 9 games a year at Penn St. Muschamp was the head coach of two teams and was fired for being an abject failure at both. The comparison is moot.

The points about Vandy And Penn State are fair and valid. I meant more in the sense of bringing in a coach who was fired at a traditional power and has somewhat of a tarnished image currently.

If he currently has a "tarnished" image that's our only chance to get him. He wouldn't be my first choice but I want better than we have and Franklin is definitely that.

So, using that logic, go out and hire a man with a LOWER percentage. He'd come even cheaper and MIGHT get us to some bowl or another.

They know it my friend; they just don’t know how to discuss anything else. Just leave them be and wade around them; these are your participation trophy guys.

Lol, I have NEVER seen one poster whine and cry about his butthurt feelings as much as this clown.

Mrs Satterfield, may she never darken this board again, was more a man than this blubbering mess.

No way he was fired due to,lack of performance in big games

It does get wearisome to keep reading the same post about something that is not forthcoming.

I think he should get one more year to fix this mess. Problem is he will be under a lot of pressure and won't get much rest. But if he gets it right he might be here for awhile.

Here's hoping no more wheels come off.
