If you believe KSR ( I know) it was reported that the UK Administration had told Mitch that Oats, Pearl, Beard etc were all off limits. Mitch hired his guy, it is obvious it isn't working and I doubt it will last beyond this year or, more than likely next season. If there is a change, U.K will be up against it, similar to how it was in 2009, and the administration should be hands off. Which to me it comes down to two guys Pearl or Oats with a dark horse candidate being Mark Byington from Vandy.

I really hope the UK Administration will make a move and tell Barnhart it’s time to retire because he isn’t capable of making the right hire. Lots of rumors floating around that the reason we wasn’t able to hire an upper tier Coach was because of Barnhart. They didn’t want to work for him!

problem is, who is the "administration"? who is in power who can be trusted to hire a new AD who can then hire the right coach? I have no faith.

Tommy Floyd or Dusty May will get you a championship some day 🥳
May would be a dream but Michigan is probably as alluring as Kentucky these days. That’s one of the richest schools in the country. I’d take a flyer on Lloyd though. His tournament success is meh but he regularly has good regular seasons

Love the list. Think Mike White needs hurled off a cliff from it, but other than that…looks great to me. McCasland is TTU coach. Add Byington instead of Mike “Milquetoast” White and that almost perfectly matches mine

White was just a plan J option. Way down the list. Did decent at Florida and now Georgia. Vanderbilt’s coach I honestly don’t know enough about him besides listing every player as a point guard last year and having them playing well this year.

Pesrl is call one.

Donovan just ain’t coming guys. Hes been out othe CBB loop so long im not even sure that’s a good idea.

May ain’t coming either. He’s on track to win a title at UM and they have more money than God. They are literally the richest public school in the country.

Lloyd is call two or three.
Oats is in the list if he will leave Bama

Otz would be a good “oh ish” coach if you wiff.

Heck no on White

And I’m not sold on Underwood either.

Will I get in trouble if I compare Byington to Pat Kelsey lol? He’s a coach who will try to have versatility at every position on the floor. Everyone can pass, shoot and dribble —- similar in that regard to a Pat Kelsey.

Otzelberger is a me kind of coach. A defensive-minded guy like that is going to win every year but I worry about the personality there. Do you think BBN would get behind him? Cause I love the guy

I don’t know enough about him to know.

I know just what the scoreboards say. He courts good teams.

But so did BCG. And they went south quick.

the spotlight is soooooo different here.

I’ve always wanted Donovan since Tubby left 😭

It probably would be a rough adjustment with recruiting and the portal he has been out of college for so long.

He ain't coming. He's turned us down many times.
I'd put Sean Miller on there too. Recruited great at Zona. Had some really good teams there. Didn't have great NCAAT success unfortunately.
Hell no. That dude was cheating his *** off. I'd rather not have coaches tied to FBI investigations thanks.

Pearl was bending the rules a bit but Miller was breaking the freaking law. He and Wade can stay away.

Well there isn’t one AD that’s above the school so if that’s the case you fire Mitch! They do it in the pros all the time with GM’s look at the Jacksonville Jaguars for instance last year when they went to hire Coen at first he wasn’t going to come because of the Jaguars GM . So what does Jacksonville do they fired the GM and that’s when Coen decided to go there to be head coach when they got another GM.

Grant McCasland from Texas tech should be on the short list. He actually plays his best players.

Barnhart can’t have any control over the basketball coach, he’s proven he makes awful hires and goes rogue.

If Kentucky goes for a big name with a hiring committee that knows how to sell what Kentucky does for coaches well we should be able to land about anyone we want. There are a few coaches in their permanent spot. Nate Oates is salivating to win a title. He’s not winning one at Alabama and as each season goes by he knows this. Barney hasn’t been interested in doing anything difficult. He’s lazy that’s why he hire his first or second target. You have to sell the job. Not just ask a guy if he’s interested.

And just for note. NO to Tommy Lloyd. We need someone who understands the sec. These western guys have no connections in the SE. not to mention that’s the guy we won’t get (dont want)because of the culture difference and laid back nature of the west. You can’t do that at uk and be successful.
