LONG
Knowledgeable fans are smart enough to see that Stoops has upgraded the overall talent of the team from what he inherited. A lot of fans are for some unknown reason think a few good recruiting class should immediately lead to success. When in all reality it takes all 5 classes to compile a football program s counting RS seniors.
The problem with expecting immediate success means you are only setting yourself up for Immense failure. The talent he has brought in is upgraded, but that talent has not had the proper amount of time to develop, mature, gain expierence and, gain continuity as a unit. Some players should have seen redshirt season when joing the program but do to the lack of talent and depth weren't able to see that redshirt which in the ends only hueta their development.
Some players are thrown to the wolves too early and it hurts their confidence and it takes awhile to get that confidence back.
Main problem with the talent stoops inherited is as all know wasn't sec caliber. Changing coaches didn't change their talent level either. While those less talented players are still on the roster it is only hurting the depth of this team. Also it is hurting the development of the younger guys do to playing with and against less talented players in practice. It is also possible that some if not all of jokers recruits are hurting the mentality of the younger guys because they of the loser mentality.
Then there is the first time head coach factor. Yes Stoop's has made some gigantic mistakes over the course of 3 season. Remember he is still learning on the job in the hardest conference in the NCAA. It doesn't help that his staff if relatively inexperienced also. Elliot first time D-Cor and 2nd O-cor in 3 seasons with Dawson first calling plays completely on his own.
So with the dumpster fire Stoop's inherited he needs a minimal 5 seasons. But at seasons end if he were to get fired. With the upgraded talent he has brought in how long should the next coach get with better talent, facilities and finished stadium. If the next coach did find success I'm year 1 or 2 with stoops players how much credit should stoops get. Also with all upgrades from a young and learning roster to all facilities and so on with the added support from the administration would we attract better more experienced coaches.
No way am I saying I want Stoop's gone he has my support until his seniors graduate at least.
