If this is true, why is UNC sucking so bad?

Kentucky is the biggest value on the market.

Hope someone doesn't come in and decide to buy our new LLC model company and run it into the ground !

That said, Ohio State is a complete waste on this list. Laughable. Do Buckeyes fans even know they have a basketball team ? OSU definitely overvalued.

These lists, I’ve always found laughable. There’s no way to know what the criteria is. Think about Louisville. 0 chance they’re worth more than UK in any measure unless you’re cooking something. They don’t even control their own city.

If these were pro teams, Kentucky would be taken above all for ownership. Even Duke doesn’t rise to that level because most of NC are State fans from what I’ve seen there.

I’ve never cared enough to see what goes into these numbers because it’s always so stupid. Louisville ranked ahead of UK in value? Sure.

This list looks like an over sampling of Kentucky haters, the whole state revolves around Kentucky basketball. There is nowhere in this state you can go and not see UK flags, license plates or apparel with the Wildcats on it. There is not one state on that list where basketball is more prevalent, one state may claim it is, but it hasn't been relevant for a long time.

The WSJ is suspect these days, and people are right, we don't know what the criteria is. But would UNC possibly be benefiting in "some" way from the Jordan brand? Or Duke benefiting from their alumni and whatever ESPN is giving them on the side (half kidding).

Another thing is that Kansas seems to fall back to below us, which makes you wonder if this list isn't more about wealth of the colleges or GDP-type statistics of the cities that some colleges are in or near. That's the only way UofL could be higher than UK, right? Just being in a bigger city?

That’s gotta be the worst top 10 list I’ve ever seen. Gary Parish could make a better list.

Us then Duke. And there’s been times where they’ve clearly been more valuable than us but they also have more band wagon fans and so when they’re down they lose more than we do.

UL above us makes the rest of the list garbage /end.
The commuter school isn't more valuable than the 8 time champs who have dominated their league, with the biggest fan base blah blah blah.
UK is global. UL about half their city cares lol.

I've lived in North Carolina for 41 years after graduating from UK.

State is a distant second to UNC in fan support in this state. Then Duke and probably East Carolina.......then Wake and App State.

When I’ve gone, I’ve always thought it was the other way. I see NC State stuff the most. Maybe I’m just in a certain part that it seems that way. I was shocked at how little of Duke garb I’ve seen, and definitely saw more NC State shirts. It’s been a while but the people we associated with there were all NCState fans too. Anecdotal but it was noticeable enough that it grabbed our attention.

Yea....it really isn't close....I would say 75% of my friends are UNC fans and nearly 100% of my relatives

I saw this list a while back and there's no way that that can be accurate. Just look at the sales of merchandise and TV Revenue "eyeballs" that you can't brings. You cannot tell me that they are not in the top five. I'm sure somebody has looked at the article and can tell me the criteria that they base this off of but I just for the life of me any sane person would say that Kentucky is not in the top five.

Hate to be that guy, but apparently our team didn't either with that butt whipping they handed us. That one still bothers me slightly. We just didn't show up.

That being said, we're the biggest ticket in CBB along with Duke, UNC, and KU.

For sure, they are 30 years removed from a super bowl victory.

Woof. Imagine one QB having more SBs than your entire franchise does in its existance. And all in less time than you've last been.

I used to think Browns fans were sad, but they've accepted who they are. Dem Boys are just delusional.

This is silliness. The associate professor ay IU Columbus doesn't have full access to the data he needs. I dont see him including the slippery idea of brand value in there at all. That is quite different than simple revenue and cash flow.

Speaking of cash flow, he shows us with 22K while most of the others are in the millions. GIGO

Jones has run that team into the ground. Not from a monetary/ value standpoint but in being relevant and winning. What an embarrassment they have become. Jimmy Johnson is responsible for the 3 championships that they have under Jones. Switzer won with Johnsons team. All because of the ego of Jones.

U of L has always been able to monetize their basketball program. I’m not sure of current policies but at one time they required you buy season tickets for football to get decent seats for BB. They also were at the forefront of required donations to buy season tickets for BB and this included all tickets to the top row for those on the side. And the biggest involves their sweetheart deal with the Yum Center.

I posted a how does UL do it when they beat our TBT sales. My question was where are they getting this money?? To be nationally relevant?? U of freakin L?
No one had any answer, no big donors listed. Adidas was mentioned but we have Nike. The sweat heart (criminal) deal with the city on Yum may be the answer? Best I’ve heard. I know UK pays a ton to rent Rupp. If UL plays for free that would explain it. Taxpayers paying for their Athletics.

Naming the most valuable men's college basketball programs & not having Kentucky at #1 would be like naming the greatest rock bands in history & not having The Beatles at #1. It loses all credibility.
