Expect a movement to either do away with divisions in football or re-align them. The disparity is a problem for SEC football.

So you can't see us running the ball down their throats against their #94 ranked defense, controlling the clock and keeping Dobbs off the field?I cant see anyway the cats win, the vols own uk.
It ebbs and flows...always has, always will. No doubt the SEC East has been down for quite a few years now, but the SEC West went through some tough times in the 90's. I do like this part of the article though:
"The SEC East will likely lose the conference championship game for the eighth straight year, breaking college football's record for the longest division drought in title games. The Big 12 North lost seven straight from 2004-10 when Oklahoma and Texas dominated the Big 12 South."
Those teams the SEC East lost to in the SEC Championship game won the National Championship in 5 of those 7 years
That's the spirit! Go Cats, Go!Underdog by two touchdowns now. We ain't winning. No way no how. Maybe we cover maybe
It will even itself out again. It always does. There will not be any movement to change anything IMO. This same conversation was happening in the 90's into early 2000's about the SEC East being the dominant half of the conference. If you look at the last 10 seasons, it's not nearly as bad as what people want to think (top 10 teams at end of year):It no longer ebbs and flows. As the article pointed out, the coaches in the SECE just aren't up to the standards as those in the SECW. Urban Meyer and Steve Spurrier are long gone and aren't coming back.
There will be a movement to change it, just like there was in basketball.

Your coaching comment says it all. It does come down to coaching and we know coaches come and go and success at those schools ebbs and flows (Alabama football and UK basketball are perfect examples of that) based on their coaches. What you failed to mention is the recent disparity in head-to-head competition and margin of victory. Just remember, Army used to be a national power in football. I bet someone once used the ebb and flow argument to predict their return to prominence.
Once again it all comes down to coaching and the best seven coaches in the SEC reside in the West.
They used to say they wouldn't do away with divisions in basketball.

Since 2010, the West has been much better, no one can disagree with that. In two of those years, (2012 & 2013), The SEC East was 13-15 against the SEC West. Far from domination in a couple of those years. In the previous 15 years, the SEC West only had the better record against the SEC East in 4 of those years.
Again, IMO, this will play itself out. It always does.
Also, basketball is a bad example IMO. No big conference has divisions in basketball. In fact, only 2 conferences (MAC, OVC) have divisions in basketball.
FAR from a basketball first fan, you're way off on that one, and people on here can let you know that. Former UK football season ticket holder.I understand that you are like most UK fans who put basketball first and treat football as an afterthought.
But football drives the boat and the SEC and this disparity won't be tolerated much longer.
And yes, my coaching comment does say it all. Whoever the best coach in the East is wouldn't even hit the board in the West.
When Saban leaves Alabama will not be as dominate , that in itself will help with balance . The east division will change coaches and so will the west . There is nothing to indicate the wests advantage as being permanent , the sec itself could and likely will have a future down period . The sec wasn't always this dominate , the conference is at an all time high as the conference of choice for top talent across the country .
You get a top coach at a school like USC and all of the sudden the west players stay home . Same goes for other traditionally good programs that have been down lately , Miami , ND , Penn State etc.... can all pull talent with the right coach . Point being they aren't going to realign the sec just because the west is better at the moment .
You don't want to admit to historical trends that says it will change , you seem to be young and only remember the sec at expansion . But hey , keep stubbornly ignoring everybody telling you anything but what you are certain will happen .I know nobody wants to admit it, but UK plays in a terrible division that is trending the wrong way and has been since the league expanded. If you want to be naïve and think that it won't generate discussion about the way things are aligned, then knock yourself out. At some point the ebb and flow argument will not hold water any more.
Plenty of people have no problem saying the East is terrible right now. We also have no problem saying that the league isn't going to make drastic changes based on a 5 year trend.I know nobody wants to admit it, but UK plays in a terrible division that is trending the wrong way and has been since the league expanded. If you want to be naïve and think that it won't generate discussion about the way things are aligned, then knock yourself out. At some point the ebb and flow argument will not hold water any more.

And ignore is what you get when a narcissistic moron ventures onto the message boardThis is what you get when a basketball fan ventures over to the football board.

ps...thanks for a good debate
It's funny bc I always contemplate changing my avatar, but that is how I identify some others, so keep it the same.Yep, I'll vouch for him. His avatar of Bear Bryant proves it! Oh wait...
Just kidding, I thought it was funny. I appreciate reading a good debate. The name-calling usually destroys all threads.
