Doing so will not be because of our coaching expertise, but will be because the players continue to play with the effort shown in the Vandy game!!!

I don't care how they win, but they sure need to win. The D played great against Vandy, if they can repeat that performance against UL we will definitely have a chance, the O can't play a lot worse. Sometimes that is the way the ball bounces. I wouldn't be that surprised to see them rebound.

I think we will beat U of Loserville. We should have beat them last year, and with Barker as the QB, that should give us the extra spark. I still like Towles as a QB, but not at the present. I personally think his confidence is shot. He reminds me a lot of Couch after he had been at Cleveland half a year.
I don't care how big or strong you are, you get "gun shy" when you keep getting your butt kicked by big defensive linemen.
If our defense plays like they did against Vandy, we will win.

So wait...it is up to coaches to motivate, but if we win out and our team plays with the same passion as they did at Vandy then our coaches have nothing to do with it? So if the players play with passion then it is because of the players, but if the players play flat, then it is the coaches fault?

So Barker won't get his butt kicked by defensive lineman, only Towles?

UofL is at 7-3 Pittsburg tomorrow. Pitt has lost 3 games by a total of 22 points, at Iowa by 3, to UNC by 7 and to ND by 12. All 3 teams are currently highly ranked. The Tards could be in for a rough day !

Merrimanm, you are just too much!!! I doesn't make any difference
what a thread states or who is doing the posting, you continually berate or demean the poster or the content of the post!!!!!
I'm not sure why I give you the courtesy of a response because I realize who & what you are!!!!

To be fair to Merriman, this thread is a little ridiculous. You cannot have it both ways...we blamed the coaching staff for the losses, but if we win give the players all the credit? Especially 2 games, where 1 vs our largest rival the fanbase has already put an L in pen, and the other vs one of the worst teams in the country is being seriously considered a possible L by some posters around here...

The players were 2-3 TDs better than Vandy IMO - coaching was pretty terrible...but if we come out and dominate UNCC and then beat UL, I will give the staff credit as well.

Berate and demean!? Seriously? I never said anything. Disrespectful, never called names, never said any cuss words, or anything else. Just asked a simple question. I don't understand the crowd that blames the coach for every wrong doing or poor play by the players, and then give them no credit when the team does well. Again, like I have said, the coach gets too much credit and too much blame. I simply asked a question. I fail to see how that is berating or demeaning anyone.

But do you have the answer to my question? If the players have the ability to get excited over a game like Charlotte without the help of the coaches, then it seems to me that they have the ability to do it for all games and the coaches would have nothing to do with it.

By the way, I am not in the camp that the coach shoukd have to motivate players to play. If that is the case, then that is the core of the problem. Now, I think coaches can motivate in the ares a of confidence and belief, but not excitement of playing. If you aren't excited to play as a player, than that is on the individual, not the teammates or coaches.
