here is what we "could" (not that we would have gotten all of these guys) have gotten with money to spare. These are the top 5 NIL deals this year.

Here's a look at the top players by NIL valuation:
  1. AJ Dybantsa (BYU): Leading with an estimated $4.1 million valuation.
  2. JT Toppin (Texas Tech): Following with around $2.8 million.
  3. Yaxel Lendeborg (Michigan): Valued at approximately $2.3 million.
  4. Boogie Fland (Florida): With a valuation of about $2.1 million.
  5. Donovan Dent (UCLA): Coming in at roughly $2 million.
How are we at $22m with the current product?

This is what I’ve been saying since this came out!

It’s beyond asinine! It’s literally, categorically impossible to not have multiple studs with that much $$$ spent! I don’t care who is recruiting!

If, and that’s a solid “if”, UK/ Pope spent that number on this roster, everyone aware it was happening should be terminated immediately for grand theft college basketball!

I'm not sure how Dent and Yaxel got away. I guess the staff just stinks, but man why not just pay each 3 million and don't bring Garrison back. Surely not having to pay Lowe, Mo D, Garrison, Reece Potter (not sure how much he's getting), and maybe Jelavic we could pay that. Rather have Dent and Yaxel anyway.

OK...so you contened we spent $22M while you just listed a top 5 NIL deals this year that makes what you are saying impossible using YOUR numbers....If Donovan Dent is #5 at $2M, is it your contention that UK has #'s 6-16 on that list all at $1.9M? Because even if we paid 11 players $1.9M each, that doesn't get us to $22M my guy....

Until that 22 Million gets totally confirmed, we will have to wonder.
But if that number is real, then yes, Pope and staff went out and spent like a teenage girl with dad's credit card.

It sounds like from reports that Pope takes it personally when a recruit wants to negotiate. Like if Wilkerson looked to be a wildcat at one point and then Indiana upped their offer Pope would get upset and say we don’t do bidding wars. We’re Kentucky. That leaves the staff missing on guys and overpaying in a panic for the next tier. It’s how they got Aberdeen from Florida. Gave him way more than anybody else. Sounds like the staff needs to do a better job seeing the market and figuring out what players are worth the big money

I looked up the top 5 NIL deals and Dent was indeed number 5 at $2.3M. I want any of you math majors out there to tell me how you think we spent $22M when the highest number we could have given ANY player was $2M. I had someone on here throwing out numbers for Oweh that were a million dollars more than the top paid guy actually made to rationalize it. So line up and let me know

Jayden Quaintance is our highest paid player at just under $2.3. Get me to $22M. Come on, there are plenty of you. Put your minds together

Sounds like Pope severely overpaid for most of our recruits as he was out of touch with the market. I think I heard Aberdeen was paid double what Florida offered. Which makes sense from Goldens comments in the offseason.

At $7 million, which is the ballpark I believed all along we really spent, this staff is a group of unsung frugal heroes who worked magic with a shoestring budget.

At$22 million, which is looking more and more like it’s the real number since no one is speaking out against Jack Pilgrim’s claims, this roster is a heinous crime whose perpetrators need to be canned instantly, with medieval torture not necessarily ruled out.

I really don't think our NIL is that high have said that since that number leaked out. Unless we are paying ever player on that team 2 million each including the deep end of the bench the math just dosent work.

Sounds to me like from what is coming out about the verbiage in this JMI deal a lot of recruits got spooked based on the language. The money was there and more than enough, but the contract verbiage spooked a lot of the big name recruits at least that is what it sounds like to me. That is very concerning if true.

There are 14 players on our roster even if the walkons get zero. There are about a million ways to get $22 million out of that even if everybody’s kept under two million apiece. The math was never the problem. The logic was a problem all along, but it’s starting to sound like it wasn’t a big enough problem to really keep us from breaking the bank on what we got.

Which would also explain why Popes hands were tied negotiating deals....

What's 2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2, genius boy?
And the thing about it is when JQ gets $2.3 million and I’m sure Oweh, Lowe and Aberdeen are at least $1.5-$2 million. I read Jasper Johnson’s was $1.43

JQ $2.3
Jasper $1.43
Oweh $2
Lowe $2
Aberdeen $2

That’s almost $10,000,000 on 5 players. It can easily get to the $22,000,000 that several reports have claimed. I don’t know why UKCowboy is acting like it’s impossible.

So thats what youre rolling with? That we have 11 guys at $2M? The IQ of the fanbase just dropped a couple of points. You don't even believe that bullcrap LMAO
What I'm rolling with is that you're the very worst kind of booger-eating moron. Your argument was that the math couldn't work out. I showed the math works out easily, something any second-grader would know.

Now your new argument is that it's hard to believe those players got that much. You look even stupider making that argument because you already called me ridiculous when I said it didn't seem logical that the players got that much but it's looking like they really did get that much since there has been no pushback from the staff or university on KSR very publicly stating the $22 million number as fact now, not rumor.

You're the worst kind of idiot and at this point you're basically only mocking yourself.

Mock away.

Adding your numbers up, it comes to $13.3M. So its your contention that UK could have had all 5 of those guys and still had $8.7M left for the bench? Cause thats what $22M is. Or do you think Reece Potter and Zach Tow are making high 6 figures lol?

So why isn't JQ on this list? Shouldn't he be #4? Maybe the pot was $22 mil but not that much was actually spent. Who knows?
