Do you come here? Seriously. What is the draw to get you here now? Or do you go elsewhere? This isn’t the UK of old.
I wish I could find thst video of Pope ripping off his suit and he was wearing a UK jersey underneath. Then he did the C A T S thing with his arms. I knew right then that dude was too goofy to he taken seriously.

It's literally the same program with the same resources, same exposure, same fan base, same everything.

I understand everyone wanting to be negative, but take a deep breath.
I get all that. This issue didn’t just pop up tonight, however. Recruiting has been stale for Pope. Again, why would you come? What’s the draw now? Kids gives zero ***** about tradition.

Didn’t you hear? The basketball program has been shut down…..per rafters.

Why not come here for the money and get in and chuck up shots and don’t play defense then head to another team and star or go to the NBA

Money is the only positive thing we have to offer rn. There’s no excitement within the program right now. Last year we ran off of that pep rally the whole season. The nostalgia is over.
Yes this is pretty much my sentiments. I mean we actually may strike out on every recruit for next year. Every single one.

He is also a lot shorter
It is silly as hell, I know, but how many coaches over, say 6'6", have been successful coaching in college or NBA ?? Bill Russell and Dan Issel come to mind, but then ... ???
I ask as a general trivia question, but it sure seems like most coaches are PG types ...

I never felt good about recruiting this year. I figured he would have a great season this year because I was under the impression we were loaded all summer. Make a final four or elite eight and then some top recruits would start rolling in. Now it’s looking like we might have a bad season and the opposite of what I thought would happen.

We have more money than anyone, but other teams are offering the same amount to the studs. They don’t want to play for Pope and don’t want to hear about the front of the jersey schtick.

Instead Pope is way overpaying for other teams reserves in the portal.

It’s over for UK. Mike Woodson went through this at IU. Everyone knows IU and UK have money so everyone wants to put UK on the recruitment poster.
Pope was chugging rat poison all off season talking about his EIGHT NBA draft board guys and how they’re gonna win a title.
Now every school and all the scouts will be telling players not to go there because he failed to get one of his 8 guys drafted despite them being scouted. You then have to throw big numbers at them when they’re definitely going to ARK or Duke or Kansas where they will develop. But the mid played all hear the big numbers and won’t come unless you offer them big time numbers.
Now you have overpaid for mid talent and obviously not many of them will become pros. There’s no way out.
Football has to be fixed first too. Enjoy the dumpster, you’re gonna be here for a while.

To me at least it seems most of the top 10 players want to be " the guy" where ever they go. It appears that Coach Pope is not selling that. That's why alot of these kids aren't coming. If that's the way the coach wants to play it fine, BUT whatever he is selling ( team concept) had better work and right now it isn't. That brings everything your doing as a program into question.

That's a big issue. That said, I wonder if this current bunch of guys isn't giving our 2026 recruits less than stellar feedback on playing here.
