Yep. The Browns set their course with that awful decision and, when it comes to winning and the playoffs, they haven't been relevant since. Watched a little of the Ravens game. The Browns are still totally irrelevant.
Compare Marino's stats to Big Ben's stats. Big Ben was superior to Marino in every way and Marino played with the best talent and the best NFL coach for most of this career. Marino was grossly over-rated.

It's almost impossible to compare QBs from different eras but if you put Marino in his prime of those Steelers teams I believe he'd have more success
Be that as it may, one would think that one big criteria for being the Alpha dog of Alpha dogs is you gotta win a championship. I’d throw Marino a bone if he’d won a MNC at Pitt but nada. Who is the more talented quarterback, Brady or Marino? Marino, without question. Who’s the guy you’d choose to lead your team in a Super Bowl? Brady, also without question. A ring isn’t the be all and end all (Joe Theismann) but it’s a factor and 6-0 is loud.
You can’t compare stats over different generations but Super Bowls are there for anyone to win.
Lol, I just remembered. The actor Meshach Taylor was a semi-regular on the old board and he once scolded me for disparaging Marino. Nice guy, Taylor, a very pleasant and constructive poster, maybe 25 posts total here, guessing. Rest Easy, Meshach.

That has to be the worst take I have ever heard. Marino is head and shoulders better than Ben. He played 30 years before Ben when the game was run first. Has about 100 more touchdown passes than Ben. Give him a top 10 defense he wins multiple Superbowls.
Allow me to correct you my online friend. It's well-known that the offense and the team's draft picks were based on the idea that Montana was going to lead them. If you recall, the GM was none other than Bill Walsh, the offensive mastermind behind the west coast offense (designed for Joe Montana).
I think Elway is a great example of someone that was always capable of winning a title but never had the supporting cast. Some of those Denver teams he led to the Super Bowl were just awful.
I'm not saying Marino/Ben couldn't be a debate. I'd take Marino with that defense and run game. Marino had one real great team in Miami and it was his rookie year.
