If you could own one piece of sports memorabilia from college sports and one from professional sports and couldn't sell either of them, what would you pick?

College sports: the original copy of Naimsith's original rules of "Basket Ball"
Pro sports: Jordan's first championship ring or the ball from Ryan's 5,714th K, flip a coin

Whatever I can get free and sell for the most money to somebody who actually wants it. I can't think of anything like this I'd want to keep except maybe for an investment.

Ted Williams’s head.

Sorry, it was broken:

https://www.espn.com/boston/mlb/news/story?id=4524957

Johnson says he worked for Alcor for eight months in 2003, first as clinical director then as chief operating officer. He included several photographs in the book, including one of an upside-down severed head, not Williams', that had what appeared to be a tuna can attached to it. Johnson says Alcor used the cans, from a cat that lived on the premises, as pedestals for the heads.

Williams' head was being transferred from one container to another when the monkey wrench incident took place, Johnson said in the book. When the head was removed from the first container, Johnson described it.

"The disembodied face set in that awful, frozen scream looked nothing like any picture of Ted Williams I've ever seen," he wrote.

Johnson said that an Alcor employee tried in vain to remove the tuna can.

"Then he grabbed a monkey wrench, heaved a mighty swing, missing the tuna can completely but hitting the head dead center," Johnson wrote. "Tiny pieces of frozen head sprayed around the room."

The next swing, Johnson wrote, knocked the can loose.

Johnson also contends that there was a significant crack in Williams' head.

When I went to the MLB All-Star Game years ago, they had so much cool baseball memorabilia to look at. I was really fascinated with the Babe Ruth collection. The jersey from when he called his shot would be a good choice. Maybe the Tom Brady tuck rule football.

That and the baton used to try and cripple Nancy Kerrigan.

College?

I'd probably go with one of Adolph Rupp's rings.

Other than seats from Riverfront, Crosley, or old Yankee stadium, I can't think of much else from baseball.

Pieces of floor from NBA or college basketball would be cool.

The only other thing I want is the giant 15' x 15' sign that my friend and our dads almost stole from the skills/homerun derby when it was at Riverfront (88?). It was raining like crazy and all the daytime stuff was cancelled. The big sign was right under the Red seats and we had it down and were in the process of folding it when an usher stopped us.

I wish WWE would open a museum of some sort with all of the stuff they have in that big warehouse. I'm just not sure where they'd put it because I doubt many people are going to Stamford to see it.

They bring a lot of it out for WrestleMania Axxess every year at the convention centers. It's super fun to look at. The HOF display is different every year for the most part. In 2015, Macho Man was being inducted into the HOF so they had all of his robes, capes, boots, trunks, glasses on display. I remember one year they had the car door that Brock Lesnar ripped off and chucked into the crowd. Hacksaw's 2x4s, Rock and Austin's vests, Goldust jumpsuit, titles, etc. I could go on and on. I ran into Linda McMahon once there and got a pic.

I heard that was all Axxess was in the mid 2000s. It's pretty crazy now. I'm like a kid in a candy store when I go. They got best merch store imaginable. They have the Elimination Chamber, a giant ring with foam blocks on it to do a photo op of taking a bump or jumping in the ring (never did this), your entrance with the music of your choice, NXT matches going on, Piper's Pit, just an elaborate amount of crap.

They used to have all of the main stars out in the open for the meet and greets (the ones you'd have to pay for photo ops- guys like Jake the Snake, Steamboat were free, Cena/Hogan/HBK types cost money) but now they're all behind curtains.

Yeah i went in 2007.

One thing that I wish they'd do, along with most real sports, is give more people an opportunity to get in the ring or on the court or what not. I'm sure there is a liability reason to prevent it. But how many wrestling fans wouldn't want a chance to jump in the ring and just run the ropes? how many Reds fan wouldn't want a chance to run the bases or something similar? Hell I got to play a softball game at a AAA stadium in Austin. We weren't even allowed to TOUCH the infield, had to stay in the grass. It was still awesome just being on the field.

College - the game ball from 1998 Comeback Cats win over Duke to move on to the FF.

Pro - the football from the ‘72 playoff game between the Steelers and Raiders that was used in the play known as “The Immaculate Reception”.

Evander Holyfield’s ear from the bite fight
Controversial take but Holyfield deserved it. He was headbutting all night and did so in the first fight as well (he was notorious for this dirty move). Ref would not do anything about it so Mike got pissed.

Never liked Holyfield.

All I would want is something I once had.

This is a true story:

When I was 13 in 1969, late in the days of Crosley Field, I went to a Reds game with a neighbor kid one hot summer night on our Straight A tickets.

This kid was totally obsessed with Pete Rose, way beyond any fandom of mine. There were just a few thousand people at the game that night, and by the late stages we'd made our way all the way to the seats right next to the Reds' dugout. At Crosley, there was a row of seats that was just slightly elevated above the dugout to the right of it, and you could see down into where the Reds sat. The kid I was with who was a couple years older starts saying how much he wanted a Pete Rose bat, and I started egging him on, figuring he was all talk. I even dared him to grab a bat, telling him if he would I would.

The Reds were ahead and in the field for the top of the ninth. A guy hits a lazy fly for the final out. The Reds players in the dugout have already started heading for the clubhouse. Suddenly the kid I'm with leans way over into the dugout, and grabs a bat out of the first slot -- lead off hitter Pete Rose's slot. I freak out, and without thinking, do the exact same thing.

We start making our way out of the stadium like a couple bank robbers. But no one apparently saw us. No one says a thing.

On the way home, I start admiring my bat: It was pure white ash wood, no grain, with pine tar about 18 inches up. It seemed very heavy. Rose was still using Louisville Sluggers then. On the knob in green magic market was the number 14.

We made it home with our bats, and I stuck mine under my bed. But the sissy kid with me crumbles, and confesses all to his dad. Who tells my dad. Who starts ripping into me for being a thief, and so on, threatens to make me go back to Crosley so I can personally apologize (that never happened obviously) and he takes my bat.

It was many years before I got the courage to ask for the bat back. I had moved away from home years before and figured dad had mellowed about the whole thing.

My father looked puzzled at first when I brought it up, then remembered the episode. But he could not remember what he'd done with the bat. We looked around the house, but found nothing.

It has never resurfaced.

That's all I'd want by way of sports memorabilia. But I don't think it'll ever happen.

I haven't paid attention to merchandise sales at games since I was a kid, but I do remember going to Reds games and them selling game used bats at the stadium. Do they still do that?

Also I had a Bluejays helmet signed by Marge Schott when I was little. But once I found out how awful she was I threw it away. I sort of wish I still had that just for conversation purposes.

We had 2. But the wood rotted out. My sister has the bones (supports) of one left.

I’d like to have the top fennial bronze bat atop the flagpole at old Yankee stadium. The same one that Donnie Baseball would look at to determine the actual direction of the prevailing winds.

I would also like a Walt Clyde Frazier suit.

Is your store in the Lexington area?

Making a trip in August and my brother in law is a card collector.
No we are near Nashville, TN.

My one piece is actually two and got them!

I wanted Lynn Bowden’s MVP Trophy and Bowl Game jersey from the Belk Bowl. My son had so much fun at that game. Also, the way Lynn played that day. So I made him an offer he couldn’t refuse and have them both!

If I had enough FU money id personally love to have John Elway's game worn jersey from the 1986 AFC championship game against the Browns where he led "The Drive" to go to the Superbowl. Or perhaps one of Ben Wallace's 4 NBA defensive player of the year trophy's

I’d like to have a game hockey puck and the American Flag draped over the players from the Miracle on Ice when the U.S. beat the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympics.

I’d like to have the bat that Jackie Robinson used when he broke the color barrier on April 15, 1947.

I’d like to have the ball that Bush 43 threw out to start Game 3 of the 2001 World Series after 9/11.

I’d like to have the game ball when Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in an NBA game.

I’d like to have the ball Don Larsen used to pitch the only perfect game in the World Series

I’d like to have the shoes that Roger Bannister wore when he broke the 4 minute barrier in the mile.

I’d like to have the game ball when Namath and the Jets won the Super Bowl in 1969.

I’d like to have the colors (blue and white) that Secretariat wore when he won the KY Derby.

I’d like to have the four golf balls that Bobby Jones used to win the Grand Slam in 1930.

I had a denim Maker's Mark bottle that I got Ron Mercer to sign. It was severely damaged in a flood and the wax fell off and the label peeled off. I have 2 other bottles, but I'd love to have that one that I just randomly saw Mercer in a restaurant and said "hey man, I hate to be an ******* while you're eating but..."

One of the horse shoes Secretariat wore in the Derby, it would be a cool add to my basement.
