...take a look at NC State today. They scored 24 points — in the game! — against Va Tech. They shot 16.7% from the floor (9-54) and 7.1% from 3 (2 of 28). They lost 47-24. At home, too.

Good god. That’s an old UNC 1970s four-corners kinda score.

Yeah, I saw that and though it must be a halftime score. The ACC has a couple of very good teams this year, which probably will feed their usual hype, but most of its teams are nothing special. Va. Tech, 7-2, in that league, was beaten by Penn State, 0-10 in the B1G. N.C. State has been ranked high all year, but played a relatively weak OOC schedule. It's incredible to put up 24 in the shot clock era. I think I could bring the local Division II team down to Va. Tech and probably get more than that.

Don't remember a lot of details - understandably - but I recall a game against Illinois around 2000 or so where we were down 30-6 at the half, IIRC. That's probably as close as we've come to a clunker of that magnitude.

Lots of bad shooting by road teams. Loyola scored 35 points TOTAL at Missouri State and shot something like 4-24 on 3s at Illinois State tonight. Nebraska couldn't buy a trey at Illinois after Palmer hit two early ones. Lets hope Penn State reverts to form from 3 Monday night after hot shooting at home vs. Purdue.
