Oweh - rarely passes, will shoot a 3 or drive no matter what

Aberdeen - rarely passes, will take a difficult mid-range shot or drive into the teeth of the defense for a tougher shot

Mo D - rarely passes, tries to bull his way to the basket

Chandler - a good passer but gets completely shut down by D-1 level defenders

Lowe - great passer, can't do it all on his own

Nate Oates said it best. Let's face it, with this many starters unwilling or unable to keep the ball moving, our offense doesn't have a chance to be fluid or successful. Not a chance.

I'll (shamelessly) take tis a step further.

I believe Oweh, Aberdeen and Mo D have always played basketball this way. That's not really a knock on them. It's just who they are.

Pope is totally at fault for either not taking this into account or ignoring it (roster construction).

If these three guys were willing, capable passers we'd be looking at a very different team and playing at the level many of us expected before the season started.

Hot take: Passing is great IF the person you pass to can make a shot. No one on this team makes any shots. This is why when we do pass, it looks like hot potato.

The handful of times we actually had good ball movement yesterday, we made buckets. So this point is moot. We are more likely to make a basket when we pass better.

Hope you’re right. You’re referring to something that’s fixable and I guess I’ve given up all hope.

The problem is that when our defense gets turnovers and does transition buckets and are willing passers, our offense looks legit. But it doesn't last.

That is 100% on Pope. Even if the players don't like each other, it's his job to get their azz in line.

I have seem spurts of hope with this team, but the problem is Pope won't demand it.

I’ve never been this down about a season by January 8th. The covid team was worse but they were a freshman-laden team which gave me hope they could progress enough to solve their issues.

This group has enough experience to put any hope of a miracle turnaround to rest, especially with Mark Dope coaching

I’m starting to think Aberdeen is the problem.

If the ball is in his hands, the only way he’s passing it is because he has been stopped by the defense and has to. I counted at least 6 times last night he missed an open man to dribble more or shoot a terrible midrange shot.

This is absolutely true. The first three you mentioned will not pass the ball. Cannot play a team game like that.

Speaking of passing, is there a worse team passing the lob than Missouri?

They made us look good at that by comparison.
