Illinois lost at home 63-0 to Iowa. Cats won @Minny 24-14. How many points will the Cats be favored by against the Illini in Evanston this week?

I’m thinking somewhere in the 23 point realm.

Of course if we are expected to learn from history, by Friday the Illini will be favored so I guess the question is by how much?

Anybody thinking of betting this line beware. Fitz does not like to embarrass opposing teams. I wouldn't touch this game.

Maybe true, but let’s not forget that we beat them last year 42-7, a week after destroying Minnesota 39-0.

Illinois' offense is much more competent this year when they are up for playing. If they come out and play with some pride. they could put a few TDs on the board. Fitz will not run the score up on these guys.

Minnesota didn't quit on Fleck this year, but Illinois has quit on Lovie.

Who knows what it means, we could win by anything from 14 points to 42 points and it wouldn't surprise me. I agree I wouldn't touch the game.

I do agree that if we're up 4 or 5 TDs, Fitz will call off the dogs and Illinois might score a TD or two to make the score look better...

Fitz isn't like Ferentz. Ferentz was calling trick plays up 35-0. He was going to kill Illinois yesterday and nobody was going to stop him, certainly not Illinois' players. Fitz will call it off if we're up 4 or 5 TDs in the 4th quarter.

Just saw opening line is NU -17.5.

Seems a little low but maybe a sign Vegas is catching on to the Cats since we don’t play great when favored. We haven’t covered a game yet as a favorite. Have covered every game as an underdog, however (winning 5 outright). Luckily we will be dogs in Indy!

I expect by game’s end that we will indeed have far greater appreciation for the irreverent appelation “Laughing Out Loud” trophy.

We will not win by that great a margin. It isn't in NU's DNA. I wish we would but I think we will win.

Watch these highlights and tell me what you see that leads you to believe we won't absolutely humiliate them (and they left our a blocked punt on the highlights, I believe). They have regressed from last year when we destroyed them...

61-23 is the benchmark, is it not?
1970 game was 48-0.

I'm skeptical that Fitz would run the score that much, but if Illinois plays anything like they did against Iowa (a complete 3 stooges kind of effort), it could happen.

To be fair to the lolIllini (which I rarely am), it may not have been 63-0 if they didn't lost their best RB (by far) early. But it still would have been something like 49-14. If said RB doesn't return this week, it could be quite similar to Iowa, as most of the team has clearly quit -- on freakin' Senior Day no less!

Are there any Seniors left on the team?

Lovie actually found a somewhat competent OC.

Who knows what will happen in college football this year? The Illini did play like stooges against Iowa, but they also hung up 55 points on a Minny team that boxed up NU's running game. Just have to play it out. I'll take a win by any margin and an 8-1 B1G season sounds good.

The only way LOLinois can stop the Cats. And even then only temporarily.

I'm starting to think I need to pick up the NU defense for my college fantasy football championships this weekend.
