This one hurts, because we will be seeing him for four years. It's tough to beat out the Illini right now and if you only look at wins and losses we seem to be trending in the wrong direction since we made the tourney.

Still some great ones out there with strong connections to NU, but I was hoping TJ Green coming back would have sealed the deal.

Well, if we get any of Jeffress, PBJ, Bates, Christie, Hunter, that'll take a lot of the sting off.

Great player to add to a team full of athletes that he can play off of. for NU i think he would have been another not overly athletic, lower big ten guy because of who is surrounding him

There's seems to be an annual point where Collins wisely pivots from his recruiting dreams to a more realistic focus. With the concentration on Jeffress and offer to Hunter, unfortunately, I think we've reached that point for the class of 2021.

Part of me was hoping the pandemic might push players like Christie and Baldwin closer to home for a sense of security. But these recent actions have me thinking those ships are about to sail.

Hope I'm wrong about all of this.

Jeffress is 2020 and would be one of our highest rated recruits... ever.

We have 2-3 scholarships for 2020/2021, so I hope we keep aiming high. Jeffress looks like an absolute stud. One or both of PBJ or Christie and suddenly everything changes for this program.

If Jeffress commits, there would only be one of the 13 schollies available for '21-'22 season if everybody stays.

Fresh - ??
Soph - Berry, Jeffress, Nicholson
Jr - Beran, Young, Jones, Boo, Chase
Sr - Gaines, Greer, Kopp, Nance

Seems like a good problem to have.

Don't think Gaines has 21'-22' eligibility and who knows where Greer will be then.

Well if you say so, I guess. NU Website has him listed as a Jr. for the 2019-2020 season. He also played extensively in 2018-2019 and 2017-2018.

Gaines probably gets a medical redshirt for 2019-20. If so, he'll have two more years eligibility.

If Jeffress commits, we probably only have 1 scholarship open for a 2021 recruit.

NU is not required to give him 6 years, right or wrong?
