I'm pissed Kraft fired Franklin when he did

Claiming that Franklin defenders are still blaming the Sandusky scandal for his alleged shortcomings is easily the most asinine comment you have posted yet and that covers a WHOLE lot of territory.

Almost as hilarious as Krafty saying the standard is to win Big Ten and National Championships despite the fact that the last Big Ten Championship was in 2016 when Franklin was coach and the last Natty was 1986. Tell me where the Big and National Championships are being held after the 2027 season so I can order my tickets now and beat the rush.
I think that's what he has to say to please the fan base, donors and attract top level talent. If he comes out and says we just want to be competitive and make the playoffs every few years, he'll loose everyone. The odds of pulling an Indiana "lightning in the bottle" type season next year are very low. But the schedule is weak and if they can retain some talent, get portals impact players, 8-4 might be an achievable goal. Could also see another 6-6 type year too

Franklin owns these losses. They should be on his record, not Terry's...

Edit: we're also not making a hire until the end of the season, what was the rush? He let Franklin off easy, by not having to face the fans & media during this stretch.
Well, yes. But the truth is Frankie boy **** the nest the day he went around Kraft to the BOT to get a new contract after Kraft had said no. That in and of itself is a fire-able offense. Then in that famous presser after the home loss and booing by the fans he showed disloyalty to the university, at that point Kraft whether he wanted to or not had to fire him.

But that's not the worst of it, after the BOT refused to extend his contract and give him another big fat raise Franklin became incensed with it all and began to mentally check out. By the beginning of the season, he and his show me the money agent began exploring Frankies options. At that point Franklin his QB coach and recruiting coordinator began sabotaging the "26" class. You have to know he was also recruiting current PS coaches to leave with him. I believe Franklin wanted the university to fire him and he got what he wanted so now he's a dirty bird as in a turkey.

This seems completely ridiculous, unprofessional, and possibly true all at the same time.
Here’s a question I have. Does anybody remember that the week of the Oregon game, one of his recruiting logistics people quit, forcing them to have have to shuffle other people around to take on that massive responsibility (weren’t there like 200 recruits at that game?). The timing seemed very strange to me. Anybody know the story behind that move?

jimmy frank should NOT have been fired so early, but left on the hook until all games were played. He could then suffer with the rest of us and receive his just booing ,then go shopping for a new job!!! He got off the hook soo easy.
If the boss has decided that he no longer has a coach that is capable and wants to remove, he fires them immediately and looks to the future. There's no universe where it makes sense to keep a dead beat coach around after he's already decided that coach is no longer capable of doing the job, allowing him to drag everyone and everything else in the program down for 2 more months. That would be a braindead move. Once the decision is made, you act. You don't keep dead men walking in positions of leadership just out of spite in hopes of trying to damage their reputation too.

That 4th and 3 at our own 30, down by 1, with 3:30 togo and 4 timeouts looked like he said to everyone GFY by going for it. That he had a brand new QB on the play didn’t help the optics.

And O’Brien was a highly paid employee who should be aware that it wouldn’t be easy replacing a legend and that some fans will not view him favorably. I don’t recall Ray Perkins whining and lecturing Alabama fans about some of them comparing him unfavorably with Bear Bryant when he was fired after being the first coach to replace that legend.
I still felt O'Brien was looking to jump back to the NFL before he got to State College.

Except you still need someone to coach the team. A number of the remaining coaches are dead men walking too. Some of them probably will end up at Vtech and someone was telling the recruits to decommit.

I'm pissed too that he fired him when he did. He should have done it a long time ago.

What we may never know is did Franklin check out because of something Kraft said/did between Oregon and UCLA? Either way this is a bad look when other schools are firing and hiring and we have no new HC (unless it does indeed happen to be a coach in a conference champ game).

Yeah, that was a little over the top. Should have just said, "Put us in a position to......"

Part of me still believes the top targets are still playing.

then why did we not get back his salary? a contract is not a one way street.
