They made a home run hire at OC ladt year. How's that working out?that's a home run OL hire.
but we're gonna stick with General Teasley. Dollar General, that is.
Luke has a much longer record of success as an OL coach than Riley did as an OC. He is widely regarded as an OL guru. They made a home run hire at OC ladt year. How's that working out?
This board blew up last year when they made the Riley hire and we made the Loggains hire. In everyone's mind, Clemson hit a grand slam.Luke has a much longer record of success as an OL coach than Riley did as an OC.
There were detractors on forums who said that Riley was running the scheme of the HC - that he wasn't 'the' man. Up thar, he's supposedly in the same position - being made to 'run' the "clemson offense". An OL coach who is going to teach technique, (and whatever else they teach) and who's considered a HR hire will have a much better chance at success, imo. They made a home run hire at OC ladt year. I've been told it takes 5 years for a coach to get settled inThey made a home run hire at OC ladt year. How's that working out?
I agree but we only want to give our coaches a year or two before suggesting they be let go. We want our OL coach gone after one year.I've been told it takes 5 years for a coach to get settled in

Personally, I'm okay with giving Teasley another year. He's apparently a pretty good recruiter (look at our OL class coming in), and regardless of how much people don't want to hear excuses, having what, 11 or 13 OL injured during the season - I don't think any OL coach in the country could cobble together a cohesive unit from that mess. Now, if we were to upgrade that position while keeping Thomson, Pringle, Markee, Tree, and Bough all in the boat, that would be fine too.Yes, when you coach up one of the worst units in the entirety of college football, and when that unit is as bad in Game 12 as they were in Game 1, your job should be in jeopardy. Particularly when you have no track record to suggest you know how to fix it.
They were respectable, not great, with the number 51 Total Offense in the nation. They made a home run hire at OC ladt year. How's that working out?
He is lying about what makes a successful football team? I can understand if he might be lying about a marital affair. Buy lying about what he has found to make a successful football team? You can't be serious.....a smilie or no smilie.Urban Myers is also a liar.
Al I know is he has as a strong a record at coaching OL as you could ask for.The guy quit a national championship job b/c it got too demanding. The job hasn't exactly gotten any easier over the last 2 years.
I put a smiley face there for a reason. He is lying about what makes a successful football team? I can understand if he might be lying about a marital affair. Buy lying about what he has found to make a successful football team? You can't be serious.....a smilie or no smilie.
Oh I knew that, friend. Just could not help myself to make a comment about Urban's past scandal. It's all good.I put a smiley face there for a reason.
OL is such an important hire that we internally promoted an analyst who’s previous experience was FCS.They were respectable, not great, with the number 51 Total Offense in the nation.
Urban Meyer says that the 2 most important coaches on staff are the S&C Coordinator and the Offensive Line Coach.
I get the sarcasm. The thing about his prior experience, that stuck out to me, is that he did not accomplish much in his prior jobs.OL is such an important hire that we internally promoted an analyst who’s previous experience was FCS.
Can’t be that important.
Let's simplify the analysis of the OLine coach and take a step back. We ended up having 10 injuries to the offensive linemen. Two of these were beginning of the season starters. One was considered our best player on the OL and played left tackle. When we finally settled on a group of 5 who could start consecutive games (last 4 games of the season) we had 2 freshmen starting which is not very common in D1 football for obvious reasons. But they were the best we could do with what we were left with.Yes, when you coach up one of the worst units in the entirety of college football, and when that unit is as bad in Game 12 as they were in Game 1, your job should be in jeopardy. At what point does the Oline performance become a lack of depth, talent and experience versus the Oline coaches' fault? I'm not saying Teasley is a great coach but he has not been given a fair chance. But he was partly responsible for recruiting the best freshman oline class we have ever had and probably one of the best in the country. Beamer sees these coaches every day and Beamer has plenty of assistants who give him feedback. For those of us who probably have never met Coach Teasley or been to a practice, how can we be screaming for his firing?
In my mind, I have to ask why did we have so many injuries at the OL? Does injuries to 10 offensive linemen not seem odd? Was it something that Teasley was making them do in practice, in drills, etc? Regarding Teasley's recruiting abilities, I would remind people that Sparky Woods and Brad Scott had reputations as strong recruiters. But, they were lacking in coaching skills. Did the injuries have something to do with the S&C conditioning program? I don't know the answer to that. I don't think anyone else here does either. What I do know is that Beamer better find out the answer and make what changes are necessary. But, but, but......
Good post. 100% agree. It's the knee jerk crowd.
We have had injuries everywhere over the past several seasons. There were a good many on the OL but they have been across the board. I am only speculating and as you mention we don't know for sure, but I would lean towards nutrition/S&C for the injuries. In my mind, I have to ask why did we have so many injuries at the OL? Our Director of Nutrition started with us this past Spring. Our S&C Conditioning Coordinator came in with Beamer in 2021. As I admitted, I know little and claim less. For all the complaining over the injuries, the line had better be stinking dadgum good next year.Let's simplify the analysis of the OLine coach and take a step back. Like I said earlier this afternoon, our rival is not screwing around pinching pennies. They mean business. smhHeard his contract will be around 1-mil per year with incentives for bowl and championship appearances.
With all due respect, for someone who admittedly knows little, you sure have reached some fast and hard conclusions. Maybe you are correct.. Guess we’ll see if the hires take place. Our Director of Nutrition started with us this past Spring. Our S&C Conditioning Coordinator came in with Beamer in 2021. Sincerely, with mutual respect, back, friend, I was only responding back to poster Viennacock above who said he was "lean(ing) towards nutrition/S&C for injuries". I only looked up the speculation he was referencing, put the facts out there for him.... for him to reach conclusions. The only fast and hard conclusions I have reached is that injuries to 10 offensive linemen in one season is odd. In the nearly 50 years I have closely kept up with Carolina football, I don't recall that happening. Viennacock said we have had injuries everywhere across the board over the past several years. I think he is right about that. I sure hope someone is looking into that to find out why. With all due respect, for someone who admittedly knows little, you sure have reached some fast and hard conclusions. Maybe you are correct..
