Last week, I had a discussion with our friend, the exceptional source at NU. As the discussion progressed, he said he's seen the latest images of the inside of WR construction. I was surprised when he said he was shocked how far along it is. He's not one for hyperbole.

He said he knows the arena is not near completion, but to an untrained eye, it looks very far along.

Anybody know if these pictures are hidden away somewhere but available for public viewing?

BTW, he said he's been told the timeline for next season is not a problem at all.

This is from October, shows a lot of steel work on the inside and they are pouring concrete on the second level. This is from Mortenson construction's facebook page and showed up with some others through the magic of googling Welsh Ryan construction photos. On another note, they are putting up the brick on the exterior. The southwest section is already done if check out the NU video feed.

A few weeks ago I was talking to someone in the Athletic Department. He said WRA would definitely be ready for next season. He said something like that a lot of the interior sections, like the seating bowl, were being built offsite so they can be installed much faster than if they were built on site. So fours games left at AA then burn that place to the ground.

It would not surprise me if the new WRA was done before Taj Fitz!!

Not even laughing. Just. Hate. Rosemont.

Don't knock the booming metropolis of Rosemont (pop 4202). Look at all it has to offer....

The Village of Rosemont, Illinois

A study in community ingenuity, the Village of Rosemont, Illinois, has been and continues to be an economic engine for the State of Illinois, for more than five decades.

Located directly between the City of Chicago and Chicago O’Hare International Airport, the Village of Rosemont is 75 percent commercial/industrial and 25 percent residential.

With a population of 4,202, Rosemont welcomes an average of 75,000 – 100,000 visitors daily. The village’s core industries are tourism and commercial real estate.

Rosemont returns revenues through the highly successful operation of its facilities and venues:

  • Nearly one million square-foot Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center;
  • 19,000-seat Allstate Arena;
  • 4,200-seat Rosemont Theatre;
  • 93,000 square-foot Rosemont Health & Fitness club;
  • Nine-acre, $50 million entertainment center, Parkway Bank Park at Rosemont;
  • 2,000-seat Rosemont Stadium, home of the world champion Chicago Bandits;
  • The Dome at the Ballpark at Rosemont contains two baseball diamonds with the largest air-pressurized dome in North America;
  • Rosemont’s latest achievement is the completion and grand opening of Fashion Outlets of Chicago in Rosemont, the $500 million, 130-store, designer-direct shopping mall.
