Sounds like Archie Miller will be meeting in-person with Clifton Moore this weekend. More interesting, neither Moore nor Durham have been released from their NLI's pending an in-person meeting:

Miller will meet with Clifton Moore on Sunday night, according to Moore's AAU coach Jonathan Michel. Miller will also meet with Georgia guard Al Durham this weekend, according to Durham's father, Al Sr.

Both players have not been granted their release yet by IU, which is waiting until after the coach can meet with the players face-to-face.

While it's technically the school's prerogative to grant said release on the school's timeline, it always feels a bit weird to me when schools don't immediately grant the request (especially if the request is made because of changes to the coaching staff).

I'm usually the most boisterous players rights guy there is on this board, but I can understand a school saying, "Hey, at least give our new coach a chance first." Then, if the player is determined to leave, grant them the release without restrictions.

Still feels weird to me. There's nothing stopping the new staff from "re-recruiting" the prospect, but delaying the release impacts the player's ability to contact or be contacted by other schools in the meantime.

Yup--dick move IMO.

Also, Miller was announced on March 25 and can't meet with a kid for two weeks?

If I were a highly coveted recruit with plenty of options, I might be a bit put off by not being attended to more quickly. Underwood certainly moved more quickly on his recruits.

Well he's only got options if Underwood allows him to use them.

Clifton Moore's AAU coach says last night's meeting with Archie Miller went well, but Moore has not yet made a final decision. #iubb

He has no options until Underwood and/or IL gives them to him other than leave and sit out a year.

Could be now leaning towards staying at IU, but hard to tell. A decision on the release request will be made on or before Monday? I'm not clear on why IU would still be holding up the release. He met with Archie days ago.

Of the options out there right now, my dream scenario would be for CCC to land grad transfer E Brown and Cal transfer Charlie Moore. This would give the Cats both immediate and long term impact players. What's cool is that the 2017/18 Cats look to still be a strong team even if no additions are made. But I think that with a player of E Brown's caliber spelling our wings and some of the scoring burden, this team becomes really dangerous. That would be a lot of skilled vets playing together.

If he's looking for immediate playing time, which it seems he is, I don't think NU is in the picture. Barring injury, I don't see many minutes available at the 4 for Moore this season. Probably not the right fit at this time.
On the contrary I'd say the 4 is the least settled position on the NU roster right now. I'd say Moore could step in and compette for immediate minutes there.

I don't know this guy at all, but I think our biggest hole for next year right now is a quick, mobile, defensive minded 4. At the 4-5 we have shooters (Falzon, sometimes Skelly), some scoring (Falzon, Rap, Pardon), decent depth in defending the post (Pardon, Rap, Skelly), guys who can play in and pass from the high post (Skelly, Rap?), and hustle grit guys (Skelly, Pardon). What we really lack is someone who can defend those combo forwards - the guys who can post up or take you out to the perimeter - and also can be quick enough to switch with the likes of Law and Lindsey in matchups where that defensive scheme is preferred.

Basically we need a Sanjay replacement haha.

And also ideally maybe we would know which 1-2 guys is going to get bitten by the knee or shoulder injury curse so we can get depth behind them in advance....

Btw, on the off chance Mark Smith is for some reason reading this, a very talented guard that can fit in at multiple positions and create his own scoring opportunities would be a nice addition too, ya know sort of replacing the hole we didn't even know existed.

If you are the Indiana coach, it is a prerequisite that you are a raging (you fill in the blank).

As for what we need, I definitely think that Falzon adds many more skills than a 6'5" SG masquerading as a PF like Lumpkin provided. Also, if you looked at Lumpkin's production in Big 10 conference play it dropped precipitously from non-conference play where you can mask your size and weights deficiencies. As for Rap, no one has seen him play in 2 years so no one knows what he brings.

What i about Skelly is he not a shooter. So I am not sure how anyone who was seen NU play would think he is a shooter.

I was just pointing out that is a big matchup hole defensively for us next year against certain types of teams / players. Think Nigel Hayes, Denzel Valentine in the past, Malcolm Hill (sorta but he's not so much an issue size wise, Scottie or Vic would be fine on him). Or like a Jayson Tatum on Duke, Justin Jackson on UNC, etc. It's part those individual matchups and part the ability to switch up top against teams who run a 4 or even 5 out offense.

There are plenty of times (most) where Falzon will add more on offense than having two slower bigs out there will hurt us on D. We have half the classic elements of a "stretch 4". But there are also times where the converse is true, and not having a mobile 4 on D as an option is a potential issue.

I'm not sure exactly what your point is on Skelly as a shooter, I said "sometimes"... I think he had a decent stroke overall but got in a big slump for a few weeks in conf season.

Side note, Sanjay didn't help us a ton on offense, but he also didn't hurt us, he was efficient overall (on low volume) with the times he chose to shoot. Even in conference play. I can dig up the numbers if you really want me to.

Apparently so, according to THIS ARTICLE.

"All three of Indiana’s 2017 signees will remain with the program.

Four-star forward Clifton Moore reaffirmed his commitment to IU on Sunday evening, Hoopdreamz AAU coach Jonathan Michels told The Herald-Times. Moore requested to be released from his signed National Letter of Intent on March 20, four days after Indiana fired former coach Tom Crean.

But one week after new IU coach Archie Miller flew to Philadelphia to meet with Moore and his family, the 6-foot-10 forward is ready to recommit to the Hoosiers."
