Can everyone agree 90% ( there are a few here and there, but mostly dont blab on twitter about what they know) of the folks in 2025 who claim insiders have no idea what is going on? I mean KSR is batting about .20% in past two seasons. Why do people waste their hard earned money for someone to tell them info that they most likely are guessing on? I will never understand it. Pilgrim, Polacheck and others (dont even get me started on Maggard) have been wrong nearly every recruitment of the Pope era.

I don’t really trust any of it, but one of my favorite things of portal season is all the random twitters that pop up with “sources.”
It really is amazing that KSR is wrong 8/10 times, yet that act like they are so dialed into what is going on.
If things did change at the last minute is that the fault of KSR? Do you want them to report what they are hearing or not? If they could accurately predict the future they'd be in a different line of work.
They didn't change. Go read what Wilkerson said. He was never as high on KY as KSR made it out to be (basically called it a done deal).
Well if it is true that they hired an assistant from his past school the player isn’t going to admit that is the reason he chose a school . He’s also not going to admit in an interview that he chose it for money .
I don’t take what insiders say as a given but a player can change his mind or mislead folks . I will agree that they shouldn’t say things like it’s a “done deal”
People will always listen to “insiders” because people love good news. Good news just feels good man. Like a drug. A lot of news is bad but we are willing to walk through a cloud of **** just to get the occasional sniff of a flower here and there. It’s human nature. Optimism and hope drive humans through life or we would all self delete
It’s much worse now, especially since everyone has an X account. Everything gets shuffled from one account to the next and few people do any digging to find the source when it could have been my uncle in Pikeville. Everyone understandably gets excited but you have to take everything with a grain of salt anymore, it’s all just a bidding war that can change in the eleventh hour. Just kick back and enjoy the ride, we’re gonna be a top five team when it’s its over either way.
I pay for multiple insiders and do not regret it for even a second. I don’t get the complaints. Either:
A.) You don’t trust insiders and don’t pay. Cool? You aren’t paying…just wait until someone commits and there you go….theyre on the roster.
B.) You do enjoy getting the scoop. Enjoy the ins and outs of the everyday weaving story.
There is no correct choice A or B.
The insiders work really hard, whether you’re talking about the ones on this site like Sisk and Graf, or the other site Polacheck, Branham and Pilgrim, or even third parties like Trilly Donovan.
The fact of the matter is insiders can only share what is known about a recruitment. And you may know everything but it all changes in an instant i.e. DeVries flies to a player’s house the morning of the commitment, drops a bag and hires a family member on staff. Next thing you know, the player is committed to Indiana even though Kentucky had all the momentum.
I’ll never tell another person what to do on these things and I’ll always respect space. That said, I continue to have a serious amount of respect for a job that has become far more difficult in the current landscape. With NIL, crystal balls and predictions are a lot less a known factor. The portal really is a crapshoot.

I don't understand what people want. If a guy on UK's staff was confident about getting Wilkerson, would you want to know that? If yes, then why are you crushing the messenger when the kid changes his mind? Are you mad at the staff for being confident? It has nothing to do with the insider's knowledge or lack thereof.
To be clear, I'm pretty confident they are not hearing anything from the staff. We've heard it time and time again, this staff keeps a tight wrap on things. Matt Jones has said multiple times, he no longer hears things from the staff. He knows a few people on the money/NIL side of things.
I think when you miss once in a while or "here and there," people understand.
But, when you're missing more than you're not--there's no confidence in the info. I don't actually care what you're hearing if what you hear is wrong more often than not.
The "things change" work on the guys they got wrong. What about the guys they had nothing on? Kam and Jelavic came out of nowhere. I don't think Jelavic was even mentioned.
If you thought insiders always contact the staff, that’s just a false premise. Sometimes insiders have someone on the staff as a connection, but many times they don’t. A lot of times, in the NIL portal era, the sources are backchanneled through agents, family members, previous coaches, family friends, etc. Again, anyone who doesn’t like insiders, just don’t pay for them lol.
Do you all get angry at the meteorologist when they project a 85% chance of rain and yet it does not rain? Hopefully not—-hopefully you understand that weather can change quickly. It really is a similar thing.
I think the failure is on all of you for equating an insider to all omnipotent psychic. Every insider will always tell you things can change in the blink of an eye and all it takes is one phone call for someone upping the ante to the player.

You can call out "insiders" all you like but we're an obsessed fanbase so in a few days, everyone here will be championing another tweet from an insider regarding how we finish the roster. This has been a thing for years and it'll continue for years to come. And in the NIL era, we just don't know exactly how these bidding wars are playing out in real time. Our guesses are just as good as theirs.

I can't imagine paying for insiders. And I REALLY can't imagine admitting it. Even if you like the info they put out, everything they say is up on this site 2 seconds later. The only thing I can come up with is that you are or are trying to be one yourself.

Andrew Slater the current GM of NC State, ex OKC Thunder employee and Recruiting Writer was exchanging info about some players and for the thanks he'd pass on some scoops he had on Kentucky recruits. My friend who is very deeply connected in Basketball World would get that info and tell me "He's way off/not true" and it was about the 2015 recruiting class. My friend asked me "Who the hell is he talking to because he has nothing right". Slater's Source was Devin Booker. So he had someone within the program he talked with to get some info and all of it was incorrect. So shows you how someone well respected in the field got info....from a guy on the team and still had no clue what really was going on.

Transfer portal is so different and now high schoolers as well. They use their agents to work each program to get what they think is in their best interest. The amount of misinformation out there is huge. You have guys that have prided themselves trying to see be the first to break stories. They have to jump in with both feet to be that first guy or gal to report player x is going to school B. It will only get worse from here. AGENTS LIE FOR A LIVING 100% of the time each and every day. They think they have to lie to do their jobs. It is what it is. No excuse but any forecaster now is about a 80% guess (as they are taking in info from family and what the agents are allowing to be released). How many out there have a team just to put out misinformation. Bet it is high 80%.
I like Iamthevillageidiot so I don't want to rip him too much......BUT, I also have never paid for info from anyone, but yet I still get the same info as the ones that pay.

The whole concept of "insiders" some how morphed over the years to be these arbitrary probabilities and "crystal balls" projecting where a player goes. I don't look to insiders for anything more than a rough idea of the state of things. Beyond that, the thing being ignored is that players are human beings, not computers. They change their mind. Circumstances change. Agents will use insiders to get stories out and gain leverage. If a player 100% knew where they were going, they would've committed already. So, how then can an "insider" be viewed as infallible?

I’m nowhere close to an insider and not trying to be one myself. I enjoy getting the info and seeing the puzzle pieces get put together. The reason you get the information in 2 seconds is because people who do pay share it with you, whether directly or indirectly. Again, feel how you want to, but it is a job like any other where a lot of effort goes into it.
You guys are really going to have to come to grips that things can chance in a nano-second.

This. I keep posting this but the usual fanboys keep getting furious. There are no uk insiders. Its just a fact. Anything ksr got correct, they saw or heard somewhere else.
The only legit insider is joe Tipton but he doesn't share much of anything and random Twitter accounts that keep changing but obviously very plugged into the national scene. Iirc that handle started as Samuel but had several iterations.

To also be clear, I'm not "angry." I don't feel a drop of anger towards the "insiders." I just think given the way this portal season has gone--we should have a real conversation about how good the information has been and how much we should "trust" it going forward.
I don't "get angry" at the weather guy. It's not about the 85% chance being wrong. It's about repeatedly being wrong. If the majority of the time they told me to prepare for a bad storm I wound up with a sunny day--I'd probably stop ever checking the weather. As it stands, the weather is actually pretty accurate most of the time.
I think of it more in line with a financial advisor, stock picker or even a crypto "expert." If they miss A LOT, you have to start questioning how good the information is.
We're at a point, we've seen a lot of misses. I think we've got to read all of this stuff knowing they don't have the "inside" info like they used to. If you want to read it for entertainment, that's exactly what it's there for. But I'm certainly not buying that anyone has any great concrete "inside" information at this point.

I think when he left he was having serious thoughts of UK. That’s the thing you can’t assume you have the mo you killed it with the recruit etc. they did that and learned a hard lesson. Close the deal. If that player goes home with only a verbal you better have some other plan to close the deal. It’s not just going to materialize. And march at least one offer. Don’t play this “if you love uk and want to be here Bs” players need money. The extra he makes pays his agent pays the taxes. And the agent needs to get paid. So if you want a player you’re gonna have to be prepared to pay over what you think market value is.
The bottomline is the coaches put out their high level of confidence to our insiders. Over confidence. Don’t blame the people giving you info the staff is passing to them in some capacity.
I believe someone is telling Jack this info. However, at this point, if he keeps believing and reporting it, then it’s on him. He obviously being lied to or used. If I were him I’d name the source. They obviously don’t deserve to be protected.
