If BV were to leave I’m pretty sure JH would be one of the targets. How that would play out is a mystery at this point. If Josh has it going at Tennessee why would he risk coming to OU having to rebuild another program? Nothing to think about at this time but intriguing.

Tennessee is in a much better place than OU in my opinion. Who is their rival? I don't think they have a Texas type team to deal with yearly. I doubt Josh would have interest coming here. BV made the Stoops mistake of hiring within. He will axe SL and possibly others and bring in someone who can play to whatever strengths we have, at least I hope. He needs to accept the revolving door is not good for advancing our program. Family this and family that is not getting it done on the field.

It would take probably $40mm or more from JC to get urban legend to leave the game day gig, annually imo.

Tennessee has an annual game with Alabama during October. I think it’s a bigger deal for the Vols than Bama but it’s been going on each year since the 1920’s according to my Vols buddy. They also play Florida every year since the early’90s which may be an even bigger deal.

OU has tried to promote from within many times, which I can get behind providing they have the experience. Since when do they hire coordinators to learn on the job? That **** is for the East Carolinas and Citadels of the world. We should be hiring the most experienced available and stop screwing around.

They took the easy way out and it backfired.

Problem with paying someone that kind of money look no farther than Jimbo Fisher for the answer.
Urban is much different than Jimbo though. People got tricked into thinking Jimbo was a good coach just because he had a generational talent in Jameis Winston. That guy was a man among boys in college, but Jimbo got the credit for some reason. Urban's actually a good coach. He's just also shady in that he'll work with any player, morals aside.
