I find it strange for some ACC fan to be so concerned about a team that is roughly 1100 miles from the average ACC team. That means that half of conference games, OU's student athletes will taking a 2200 mile round trip every time. I can't believe that some ACC fan thinks that is a really good thing for OU to put on its student athletes.

It is a stupid idea.

In the Big XII OU's longest conference road trip, ISU, is about 560 miles one way which is less than the average of ACC teams. Other than that, OU's next longest road trip is 300 miles to Manhattan Kansas. Other road trips average less that 250 miles. Moving to a conference where the average haul is over 1100 miles is plain stupid.

What would have been worth while might have been the Big XII and ACC getting together in one conference with two divisions where they play a CCG. That would have nullified the travel and made a little sense.

We are better off being in a conference that has some geographical sense to it, even if it is a weaker conference.

I think you forgot about West Virginia. I like your thinking though........

Yep, I did forgot about WVU. However, that makes my point. OU in the ACC would be worse when it comes to travel than WVU in the Big XII. Most away competition would be a longer trip than WVU to Big XII venues.

If we're fantasizing, and we're fantasizing about the ACC, the two conferences should just be combined to produce one mega conference with an east and west concept. Have a few cross division games, a rotation of in division games (like the old big 12), and a championship. The divisions could look like this:

WEST
Oklahoma
Texas
OSU
T Tech
Baylor
Kansas
Kansas State
WVU
TCU
Iowa State
Louisville
Virginia Tech

EAST
BC
Clemson
Duke
Florida State
Georgia Tech
Miami
Pittsburg
Syracuse
Virginia
Wake Forest
North Carolina
North Carolina State

You should use the PAC instead their GOR runs out about the same time, and it would link the West coast and Southwest:

WEST
Washington State
Washington
Oregon
Oregon St
Stanford
California
UCLA
USC
Arizona
Arizona State
Utah
EAST
Oklahoma
Texas
OSU
T Tech
Baylor
Kansas
Kansas State
WVU
TCU
Iowa State
Colorado[/QUOTE]

Just add BYU and Colorado into the Big XII and be done with it.

I know Colorado would be a long shot, but their sports programs have really tanked since leaving, so why not come back and give it another try?

If 14 were a really desirable number, then Cincy and Houston would fit the mold nicely.

There is merit here but maybe paring it down some. As a KSU fan and long time Okie I want to see the remaining members of the Big 8 hang together and just add teams to build a long term base.

Go away. Pitt sucks. Go post on one the school message boards down there on the same level as Pitt. This is a big boy's board.
An expanded B12 will help hold the conference together once the GOR has to be renegotiated in '24.
