Interesting note on Sellers' recruiting class

He would need to be highly sought after to be enticed to transfer. I'm sure he got offers two years ago but probably not much after last season.
He certainly got offers. And especially after his RS Freshman season.

Sellers was bad last season, but the potential is there. I’m sure many coaches were thinking about how they could use him with a decent OL and playcalling to suit his strengths…none of which we did.

Anyway, interesting that 85% of the top 34 QBs in that class have transferred at least once.

Staying at one program is now the anomaly.

This is why getting excited about HS QB recruits is silly. You almost don’t want to land them out of HS unless you plan to play them immediately. I know that’s not how we actually feel, but it is how it’s playing out the majority of the time.

And it’s not just about money at that point. It’s a big part but most of these guys probably feel like they should be playing, or weren’t given what they are promised…so they just want out.

Not that different from how some NFL teams approach this. They can find better prospects as back-ups on someone else's roster than some of the draft prospects.

And seems HS recruits are being placed at a disadvantage since they are competing with portal transfers. 🤔

Vandy folks who are super hyped about Curtis coming in are probably going to have a cruel awakening. Very few freshmen QBs in the SEC are able to step in and play at a competitive level.

In their defense, it’s a huge deal that he’s going to Vandy

Massively huge. May not be an adequate word to describe it.

Not just the caliber QB of he is but that they flipped him from UGA.
They "bought" him from UGA. Vandy has big money and is using it.

I'll be interested to see if he stays at Vandy. He is coming from a small Christian private school. He has the physical tools but he has put up his video game numbers against defenses from other small private Christian schools. He has no idea what facing legitimate defensive talent in a live game situation is like.

Getting excited about ANY recruit is silly these days.

Considering these wild transfer rates, it is fairly impressive that we have managed to retain Sellers, Harbor and Stewart for all 3 seasons.

Stewart could certainly go most anywhere he wanted.

With Harbor's speed and blossoming potential, he could have found some good suitors as well.

Though Sellers had a down year, his raw athleticism is undeniable, and I think many schools would have chalked this year up to the non-existent OL.

I hit a pay wall with the link. Did the article say who the other 4 QBs are?

I agree with this, which is a shame, I used to enjoy following the recruiting process.

I was pleased they were able to flip him from UGA, not because I like Vandy, but because I despise everything about the rotten to the core UGA football program. From their endless criminal history to their appalling graduation rate, which is about the worst in college football.

Fortunately, we have new coaches in charge of the offense

this is an interesting stat, and if this becomes the norm, this would highlight there isn't much point in recruiting hs qb's.
I think you just need multi-year, non-negotiable NIL deals. Make the contracts ironclad. No outs. No loopholes.
