What needs to be looked at? The most prominent hawk wrestling donor has been vocal about what it will take to be a top tier RTC. Several million dollars because an RTC full of world team members are going to demand big money to train in IC plus be partners for the college team. NLWC and Cowboy RTC have the big money backing to do it and HWC doesn’t.

Do you think Tom Brands’ leadership and results are

a) helpful

or

b) not helpful

to fundraising for the HWC?

That is your line of thinking? Really this is what Iowa wrestling has become to you? As long as you can find another example of equal failure in a different sport everything is fine? It is just sad. I don't want Brands fired but I would think he would have enough pride to realize his better days have passed him. He is 2 years older than me and I retired from a demanding job 4 years ago. Time comes for everybody. Gable didn't last past his prime and I will be very surprised if Cael is still coaching when he gets to that age. The sport evolves too quickly to keep up for older people.
I can FIND multiple examples, I just gave you 1. Didn't fit your narrative. Deal with it as best you can.

I can’t say one way or the other. But he has been at the helm to raise the funds for the facility and the NIL that has been around for the last several years. If the big money is out that would b willing to pony up if he was gone they’d likely have to do so to get him gone before 2029.

Does Iowa have an Ira Lubbert or Chad Richeson? IDK. It’s possible

If Iowa needs more money just have your big donor have his company fudge with the utility readings of his tenants again. Or, scam more covid funding again. There are ways.

I honestly don't know and your points about the success are well taken. But I have to wonder if his general attitude towards other people doesn't hold Iowa back in that area, despite that success.

Lots of circling the wagons happening by the staff ahead of tonight… the criticism over the Endene thing must have struck a cord somewhere

Don’t worry though, $31 million was dumped into the new wrestling dungeon instead of the RTC

So the donor is the expert on what it takes to be a top tier RTC? Interesting. Im not saying money isn't a factor, but its just one part. Why not do a complete coaching overhaul at the RTC? At this point, what can it possibly hurt. If not having the money to pay top tier athletes is holding you back, why not change the one thing you can. If it turns out to be a failed experiment, then move on. There are what, 3 competitive wrestlers in the HWC now? I don't see any of them competing after this current cycle. Maybe new blood on the staff brings in a few more athletes. Maybe it doesn't. The current staff certainly isn't bringing any new blood in, so what's to lose? The only real downside I see is potentially losing the few guys that are there now. Oh, and maybe the donor. Thats a big blow for sure, but if the donor is dictating how things are ran, you're not really set up for success anyway.
