have an interesting juxtaposition with Cael Sanderson & Carter Starocci.

Gable and Lee both choked under the pressure of getting their 3rd/4th national championship while Sanderson and Starocci overcame the intense pressure while succeeding in getting their 4th/5th national championship, respectively.

Upon reflection, the legacy of both team's most notable wrestling personalities is an interesting dichotomy.

It says a lot.

If you are going to throw shade, at least do some research. Dan Gable lost going for his 3rd, not 4th. Now you’ll have Iowa fans gloating over their belief that Penn State fans think that wrestling started in 2009.

I made the correction on your first point. Thank you, But your second point doesn't make sense as both Gable and Sanderson's failure/success happened well before 2009.

Stop with grandiose pressure vacuum and tying to create a story or reading of tea leaves. Everyone has pressure at this level some succeed some don’t but more often than not its not the pressure that makes them fail. Get a clue. Lee succumbing to pressure????What are you smoking. Dude is super successful at his craft and lost due to he got caught in a bad position with 50 seconds left winning 7-6 at the time…These athletes live for the pressure of the moment it is relished not shyed away from.

Gable was a great coach at Iowa but he was a great college wrestler at Iowa State. I like to bust on Iowa as much as anyone but Gable's loss in the mat, choke or not, can't be used to needle Iowa fans.

I agree with you, but I do find it interesting that Lee did the same thing in high school. (Yes, I know he was injured his senior year, but that didn't slow him down at all during the regular season.) He was undefeated and going for a 4th title and lost late in the match to a much lesser wrestler than himself.

Exactly. Lee is a great wrestling talent. But, he has crumbled on the biggest stage more than once. You can throw in the Olympic finals while your at it.

That's where you are wrong. I compared Gable to Cael. Neither wrestled at the school where they had great coaching success.

I said that Lee was a great wrestler. But, unlike Carter, he didn't fail at the pinnacle moment of his overall career goal.

So ******* what???? Holy crap. What is your hardon for saying people at the top of their game lost???? You are just spewing irrational comparisons and are just sounding stupid....

Its folks like you that have no idea what it means to compete athletically at a high level else you would know what you are saying is garbage analysis. Wonder if you have the nuts to walk up to anyone like Lee or Gable and say it to their face---- your little "choked" hypothesis.

You obviously lack reading comprehension skills. Cael and Carter were at the top of their game and didn't lose at their biggest moment. Gable and Lee had great wrestling careers...but LOST at their pinnacle college career moment. It's as simple comparison.

I just find it fascinating that Iowa's greatest coach and greatest wrestler choked while Penn State's greatest coach and wrestler succeeded in their quest for that last national championship. Must be something in the water or air in Iowa City, Iowa that draws that type of individual?
