I see Jesuroga is still on the recruiting commit list. Is he still going to wrestle at Iowa or is he done wrestling altogether?

Mixed rumors at this point. He's likely not going to wrestle at all this HS season. How that impacts his future TDB. The Iowa staff is obviously aware of the situation and needs to address it accordingly.

Ayala is currently next in line at 125 but he looks like a guy who could be a 133 in two years so finding another 125/133 has to be a priority.

Yeah if he doesn't wrestle at Iowa it's a blow to our class. Who are the names we are in on at all weights for 24?

Wrestling recruiting is really secretive.

We'll go after top recruits but it's a numbers game with only 9.9 scholarships to offer and constant competition for recruits with PSU, michigan, okie, osu, Cornell, etc. Add in the uncertainty with Jesuroga and it makes it tough to recruit that weight.

But shouldn't we have a healthy NIL that makes us more attractive than most every program? I suspect we do, but know nothing about it.

I'd love to have INFLCR NIL like ISU does where I could direct money right to the wrestlers--meaning my business can make offers to anyone who signs up for the program. INFLCR is the middle man, but there isn't someone negotiating on my behalf.

No idea but it is rumored that is how we got Real Woods. I suspect there is HWC money or wrestling specific NIL available. If we do not land a top 125 HS recruit that can potentially take over 125 or 133 after a RS season then we will definitely be looking at a transfer prior to the 24/25 season. Dam typing that makes me feel really old!!!

I would be very surprised if we don't get a transfer or two this offseason. I think TnT has shown a willingness to bring in guys to fill gaps. I wonder if we move Ayala to 33 next season and bring in a portal 125 guy with the Jesuroga news.

Ayala needs to get physically stronger just to compete at the highest level at 125. Can’t see him not being over powered at 133.

My take is it will be the FD connection of Ayala-Teske at 125 and 133 next season.

Ayala wrestled 33 this weekend at an open tournament which he won.

it’s common for our redshirts to wrestle up instead of cutting weight….. he wrestled 125 at soldier salute….why go through the grind of cutting weight for somewhat meaningless meets….plus you’re wrestling stronger competition usually up a weight

I hope he can make 125 next year cause AA level 125 pounders don’t grow on trees and with NJ joining the Navy we’re lucky to have him as a possible option

I'm not an insider but I tend to believe it was to take on a higher level of competition. Could very well be wrong on that.

Not saying he is going 133. Just an observation that he does have some experience there and is an option depending on what happens in off-season at 125 and 133. Losing our stud 125 recruits is not ideal. I do think Drake is at 125 next season.
