How far has Nebraska fallen that their Thanksgiving Friday game - which used to be nationally televised vs Oklahoma - now gets Iowa during leftovers? Very strange to see a traditional perennial power (which was perhaps frequently overrated - like in ‘94) become so mediocre.

Ha! That's college football. That describes my Gophers at their best for decades now.

I’m finding 9-2 is A ok here on the Tom board. What MINN record is A ok on your gopher board?
”Go Gophers beat central Michigan?”
It's realative. I'm not okay with mediocre, but until a time machine is developed or I win the lottery, there is little I can do but buy a ticket. My hope is that we will once again be amongst the best, but there is no shame in making bowl games and occassionally taking down a blue blood now and then (Please God let it be Michigan or OSU).

To answer your question, the expectation was/ is to win the West and give an earnest try at the BigTen Championship. This year is it. We may have missed our window.

I should have made myself clear. I was laughing at Nebraska (and Iowa) Like us, they have to get players from out of state to have a chance to make the Quick Lane bowl, let alone the college football playoffs. And... that is with more "recent" success.

Penn State is a whole different animal. You are surrounded by 4 and 5 star recruits. You really don't have to recruit. You select. Understandably expectations should be higher.

Wow. It’s so weird to see Penn State the envy of anyone. Huh.

Historically it’s a very difficult rut to escape.
Sad, but true! Especially if you have very few Johnny's and Joe's in your back yard.
The envy is real. When I go out with @STPGopherfan he is forbidden from making eye contact with me.
Sadly, it's true. Kind of hard to invite one to dinner when I have to sit at another table... ;)
