Iowa Hawkeyes (21-12, 11-11 Big Ten) vs. Clemson Tigers (24-10, 14-7 ACC)

Statistically these teams are very close with being the better shooting team, while Clemson size makes them a better rebounding team.

Hawks will come out flat and get down by double foul or digits. They will fight and claw back, and even get a nice lead mid second half. Then the wheels will come off and hawks fall 77-73.

ACC is not looking super strong at this point but neither does the BIG.
Looks like a nail- biter.
Stirtz finds his shot with Alvaro and cooper chip in...
Iowa 78 clemson 74.
Go hawks!
Big Ten: 4-2
ACC: 2-3

two mid level P4 teams slug it out, both did not finish the season well either

Just as on the football forum I have always wondered why/how such an obviously negative Hawkeye poster assumes the roll of "official game thread" starter?

oh no, someone doesn’t think my team will win. Predicting and cheering for are two different things.

I hope Iowa brings its defense today because it's sucked the last 10 games or so. Feels like a low scoring affair but will probably end up 80-77.

I have not seen Clemson play at all. Do they play up tempo? Are they in your face defensively?
teams are very similar

They played at a similar pace

Scoring defense
Iowa 16
Clemson 28

As I stated above, the biggest differences that I saw statistically is Iowa shoots a much higher percentage

Although Clemson is a better rebounding team because they have a taller front line

Clemson scored 39 in the 1st half & 41 in the 2nd half.

Clemson played these 9 players vs UNC & then again vs Duke in the ACC semifinal.

Clemson's Last Game was vs. Duke (73-61 loss).

Here are 10 minutes of highlights of that ACC semifinal game vs Duke.

Duke led 29-21 with 3:50 to go in the 1st half.

Duke then went on a 12-1 run
to lead 41-22 at half time.

Clemson outscored Duke 39-32 in the 2nd half.

Don't get me started on the bball crap again, this had been an issue with Maryland Wilson balls vs. Nike vs Baden, etc. No excuses, just go get the W today Hawks!

hate to say it, but the feel of the ball makes a difference. it sometimes gets into a player's head where they think they now have to do something differently on their shot.

simply thinking "this ball really sucks" can get into a player's head, too.

the fact that Bennett brought it up tells you it's in their head

Clemson is very well coached. BB reminds me of BM in a lot of ways. With Iowas style of play this year and overall roster, they have little margin for error.

I am worried about the 3 ball.

7 of the 9 that play shoot 34% or better from three.

Bennett seems to have made a couple non coach speak comments this year. Negativity in the locker room, ball sucking. Interesting. Not saying I don't like it, just unusual given the plethora of non-answers you usually hear during interviews.

The Clemson coach was at least interested in the Iowa job when Fran got hired. I don’t know if he interviewed but I know he was for sure inquiring about the job. He was at Wright State. I think he got to Clemson at the same time Fran got to Iowa.
