Is Eddie Gran the man?

Is Eddie Gran the man for the job as OC, or is he someone Coach Stoops has worked with in the past and would be comfortable with him? I don't know the answer, so I'm basically asking what some of you think, who may know. When I look at what Cincinnati did this year, I was not impressed. I agree they put up some big numbers, but it was not against SEC type schools. Memphis, Temple and BYU were the only ones that stood out, and everyone put up big numbers against them.
In the bowl game, their offense was a no show, and San Diego State was definitely not a power house. They lost to California and Penn State, but did beat some weaker teams.
I would like to see Coach Stoops decide what kind of offense he wants to run, and then go after a OC who is successful running that offense, and Coach Stoops not micro manage it. There has to be a good OC out there that would come to UK if the price was right. I think Coach Stoops job will depend on the OC he hires, and the job he does. I hope he gets it right!

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Don't know if Gran should be the guy or not, but noting that UC didn't go up against SEC competition isn't relevant as UC didn't have SEC level talent. I.e., they & their opponents are at similar levels & what matters is how well their O performed against them.

I think he's probably among the best choices of guys we have a legitimate shot of actually getting. I'll be quite happy if Eddie Gran is the new OC.

Except that we dont have sec talent either...at least not depth wise.

Stoops and Gran worked together at FSU. I hope it's Gran. He will being a maturity and organization to the offensive side of the ball that is sorely needed.

The longer this drags on without an announcement, the more nervous I become. The football program right now is starting to become a dumpster fire.

We should know today if it is Gran, might be longer if it is someone else as most bowl games are yet to be played. CMS has to know he must make a solid, inspired hire here, his literal future depends on it

I don't pretend to know if he is or not. What I do know is he's apparently a friend of Mark Stoops, and yet he's now hesitating on his commitment. That does not say good things about the state of the football program. After having such high hopes for the Stoop's era I'm now seriously wondering if there's hope. It's easy to believe next season is going to be a disaster, and we'll find ourselves starting all over yet again in 2017. I sure hope not, but it's not outside the realm of possibilities.

It is possible he may not accept the position....
Exactly.

I had questioned in two other threads why so many here thought that Gran would "automatically" accept the offer. It strikes me he has some things to "think over". He is a seasoned career assistant and probably not too concerned with "padding his resume" with an SEC gig. Now if UK throws A LOT of money at him, sure. But he makes $350K now and will possibly be getting a raise as Tubbs is supposedly lobbying for same. (FWIW, Dawson doubled his $250K WV salary when moving to UK.)

While he may be a friend of Stoops he has worked for Tubbs for close to 20 years at 3 different schools and is obviously very comfortable with that relationship. If security is a factor is there more security at Cincy or UK? I do agree that the longer it goes on the less likely it looks. However, UK might have put all their eggs in this basket and may not have other experienced OC options. In that sense, he may be holding most the cards unless UK wants to go with a "move up" candidate.

Peace

UK has some very good talent returning at the skill positions, plus TE. The QB the unproven position, but a good QB coach should help and ALL that talent returns. I expect a better QB coach AND another fill in QB before it is over.

Then the OL should have a major upgrade in 16, including more experienced starters returning, and a chance at an excellent unit in 17.

I truly believe UC has way more talent than UK. So to say UC doesn't have SEC level talent, does UK?

With SEC levels offensive line, receivers and qb many of you could probably pass as reasonable coordinators. Lets see if Gran can do better, than the others, with a UK roster that may not include those three things.

Welcome to the SEC coach Gran and I wish you great success.
