For those who guessed that Paris would not be fired this year, I found this report on ESPN which supports that view:

South Carolina Gamecocks

“After struggling in Year 1 in Columbia, Lamont Paris guided the Gamecocks to a 26-win season in 2023-24, earning a 6-seed in the NCAA tournament and winning SEC Coach of the Year. But the Gamecocks haven't come close to sustaining that momentum, entering the week with a 24-35 (5-27 SEC) record over the past two seasons. But it sounds as if the school plans to increase Paris' NIL budget, in the hope that he will turn things around next season. Paris signed a six-year, $26 million extension through 2029-30, and there's just over $12 million remaining.”

If his buyout is 7.5 million, is it worth it to throw 5 million at nil and see if it works?

If you don't, and spend the money to fire him, then hire a new guy who can't get it done because there's no money for nil, and you keep on losing, what have you accomplished?

It's a dilemma. If we were Texas or LSU, it wouldn't be a dilemma.

To show you how crazy things are in today’s world.I read if LSU cuts their current coach loose their is strong sentiment to try and bring back Will Wade.

We more than doubled the NIL he had from last season. The problem is we have to overpay for even bad talent to want to come here. Kids want to win, so they don’t wanna play for Paris because 3 of 4 seasons have been AWFUL
How does our NIL $$$ compare with other SEC schools?

Well as much as i agree this Paris experiment is a disaster, However the Maneri Experiment is just as bad, if not worse!! SC has had one or two above average years in basketball history, However Baseball was on the verge of being called a Dynasty, Now look at them!! total dumpster fire!!
Men's basketball likely would have been a dynasty had we remained in the ACC. Maybe not a blue blood like UnCarolina or Dook, but just a step down. Might have been us at the top in the early-to-mid 1970s instead of NC State.

Tanner was a great coach, but as has been stated on FGF numerous times, he was done with coaching and Holbrook at the time seemed like a sure hire.

In retrospect, how many coaches hired under Tanner's watch in all sports have panned out? Everybody has their strengths and weaknesses.

Mike Morgan recently stated bottom 2 with LSU and that’s after more than doubling the balance. It was also reported that if Paris needed more, more was available. He didn’t ask for more though. That tells me he legitimately thought he went out and got an SEC roster.

If one is in coaching primarily to teach and wants none of the headaches of the pressure to win and big time recruiting, they should look at coaching in NCAA D-III or the NAIA. Even in some high schools, depending on the sport, the pressure is on.

No riches, no stressors.

Might've thought the other schools' guys would have to go to classes too. Do you look at the other schools' players, ie kentucky the other night as the latest and not the only by far; 'student'-athletes these guys ain't. Regardless, LP is his own worst enemy and contributes to our losses his own self on the reg with his bizarre substitutions and lineups. I don't give a crap what he's trying to run or used to run or whatever, I played basketball too and I know dumbassery when I see it. When you sitting our big guys on the bench while the opponent has their big guys on the court you're simply asking to lose games.

What system? Everything he said at his introductory press conference about what he commits to doing well, we don’t see. Last season he put together a Frank Martin roster. This season is the TEMU version of 23-24 roster. He’s sitting the big guys on the bench because they play like guards and can’t rebound either. He told us we’d play good defense and rebound well. Anybody seeing those things? He’s admitted these guys have quit on him more than once this season in games. If we run it back, I’m probably going to completely check out of Gamecock athletics. No commitment to winning which means they are stealing from fans. No thanks.

Whoa; down boy. Didn’t say they were all-sec, but they rebound and defend the rim a dimm sight better than the smaller guys and demonstrate as much every time they come in. Gotta disagree with you there; in my view not having one of them in the floor steadily puts us in holes we’re not able to work out of by the final horn.

Only reason Paris keeps his job would be because we’re not serious about winning in Basketball. That simple. No reason to keep him. Hire someone else and commit to them from the start.

We’re just in a bind with potentially having to fire 3 HCs and basketball just happens to be the one we can get by with without as many people being pissed off.

They do not rebound better than Assemian which is pathetic for a couple of experienced bigs to get outplayed by a freshman like that. They are awful man. I don’t care if they are slightly better than other awful players. My beef is with the fact that we have a coach who thought those guys were answers to major problems on the roster.

If the reason is we might have to fire Beamer, what does that say about Donati? He doesn’t have faith that he brought in the right guys to fix the issues in football? If that’s the case he should be fired immediately also. Seems more like we’re a poverty program than anything else to me.

I agree he didn't forget how to coach. He's playing with hamburger meat while other coaches are playing with steaks. Until NIL increases no coach will have any long term success. It's the way business is run today.
I respectfully disagree, Paris wasn't much at his previous job either.

Lamont should have a better conference record the past two years with $0 NIL.

Why should they? They are making money that 99% of the population dream about just to constantly fail.
^^This^^ is why so many want a coach who is struggling to be fired mid season, with a vengence.

But they still get paid; it's just that once they get the axe they don't even have to act like they're trying to earn it.

"Oh please, please, send me on paid vacation 3 months early!"

I’ve come to the conclusion that our athletics department is in shambles financially.
