Is it time to tell Messiah Mickens to take a hike?

Kid is making the most important decision of his life (up to this point). Let him have his moment(s).

If he is not serious, the staff will separate themselves from him.

Agree but don't commit early if you're not ready. No one blames a kid for taking their time; it's when they hold programs hostage there comes an issue. If Franklin's policy is you can't take visits while committed, and Mickens continues to visit, Franklin should consider the spot open and available and continue to try to fill it.

And it comes to that, CJF will make that decision.

I feel.like the kid is playing PSU. There are other RBs @ PSU and RBs in HS (late risers).

I think that you guys are overreacting.

He's a great prospect, and PSU wants him. They got an early verbal from him, which they were quite pleased to get. Alas, Seider (the RB coach at PSU that recruited him) elected to leave PSU and go to Notre Dame. As such, a lot of programs started poking around, to see if they could pry him away from PSU.

So he's decided to take other visits. That's not a surprise to those that have been following reporting on him since Seider left. And I don't blame him for checking out other options.

The expectation is that he'll still end up at PSU. Obviously, things can change. But at this point, telling him to take a hike, or even being difficult with him, is counterproductive.

Difficult and counterproductive is right in our wheelhouse

A RB isn’t going to make or break this team - Henderson boned us last year and we ended up with two quality RB’s (not as highly ranked but still). I get visiting ND - but North Carolina? Eh - maybe Belichik is enticing. Still, I’d open his spot as long as he’s unsure of his commitment - fair is fair.

Doesn’t Franklin usually tell a kid who previously gave us an oral to f*ck off if he starts visiting other schools?

It seems like it depends; for Mickens, I think he gets some deference.

Think there is pressure for Seider to deliver, though I don’t think our success at RB is at all attributable to him. He’s a hype man.

Keep recruiting other RBs. This one is far from a sure thing. If he decides to go elsewhere, so be it.

No. They should continue to recruit him. This is a layup question. His position coach bailed so he’s looking. Maybe the cloud yelling fans should move on to D3 football.

What a stupid post. My god. Were you advocating for Penn State to tell Micah Parsons to take a hike too?
Well, let's wait and see what happens. PSU should go ahead and recruit other RBs. If he can look around then certainly PSU should do likewise.

Speaking of usually, don’t they usually say “gave us a VERBAL” to keep the Beavises and Buttheads of the world from snickering? ;)

I wonder if PSU had the opportunity to sign a better RB prospect, if they would in fact do so? Answer: Yes!
My assumption would be that visits or not, the PSU recruiting machine is working.
CJF's penchant for avoiding petulant reactions brought back players like Rucci and Mack. It's a business and it cuts both ways.
