Is Lindsey our first shotblocking wing ever?

Shurna could be considered one, but he played almost exclusively the four. Did Hearn or Nash or (any other lockdown defenders?) ever swat shots like Scottie? He's so instinctive.

Lindsey so clearly belongs as an athlete in a way maybe nobody I remember at NU has. (Jitim was a grinder, not a spectacular athlete. Maybe ha chad or Nash or Shurna, but none of them were built like grown-*** men like Lindsey already is.)

My hope is that Lindsey can play the two next year (or the three alongside Law as the defensive two). I feel like he's only been at the three this season, alongside Mac and Sobo/Demps/Cobb. Law and Lindsey at the wings would be the way to get the best athletes of appropriate size on the floor.

I also like that I think I've seen Lindsey crack a smile more than once on the court.

on the other hand, I also like that he comes down from blocked shots like it's expected. ho hum, just stuff a power forward going in for a dunk. nothing to see here!

Shurna's game was that of a 3. We really did not play anyone as a true 4 so Shurna would meet your criteria.

If we can get enough solid ball-handling out of a starting 5 of BMac/Lindsey/Law/Falzone/Olah, that might be the biggest, most athletic line-up NU has ever fielded.

Why is everyone so quick to take minutes away from Depms or put him on the bench? The guy has hit so many big shots for us and is one of the few on the roster who can consistently create his own shot. Why don't people want him playing 30+ minutes for us?

Per Kenpom, going back to 2003, the only other wing player to come close to Scottie's block % of 4.0% is Crawford, who had multiple years around 3.5%. Shurna is the only non-center to get above a 4.0%, but he had 4 inches on Scottie. It's pretty impressive to watch, I'll say that much.

Scottie has a lot to work on as far as his court awareness goes on both ends, but his athleticism and instincts show a lot of potential there.

Because Demps best moments are at the end of halves and games. He can be pretty pedestrian at other points in the game. That means at other points of the game other options might be better. Some guys focus better coming off the bench and Demps might be one of those. Prior to the end of that game, he was probably only shooting about 35%. But when money time came, he hit those 3 3s. He is just a different player at that point in the game

Pedestrian in comparison to his end of game or half shots in critical spots. How many of those has he hit just this year? On those, he seems to have a focus that he just doesn't seem to have during other parts of the game. If you take those critical points out, you would probably find he shoots under about 35% and under 30% from 3 which would be about the lowest % on the team. But you put him in those crunch situations and there is not anyone you would rather see having the ball in hand.

It just seems really odd to me. Demps is currently our leading scorer and is the most clutch player we have (by a long shot). Yet people want to take away his minutes for freshman or guys who haven't set foot on campus.

I am not sure where you are getting 35%/30% from. Looking at Tre's stats from the month of February, he
shot 50.7% (36 of 71) from the floor while averaging 3.14 assists in 7
games. Were there that many "critical" parts of games to boost his numbers to 50%?

Some people are just too infatuated w/ the frosh.

While yes, they have some promises/flashes - just can't see Demps not starting next season at the 2.

Coming down the stretch, Demps has been NU's top offensive threat.

I have been critical of Demps' undisciplined play, tendency to play 1-on-5 ball and taking too many low % shots - as he was doing earlier in the season (much less in previous seasons), but he really has stepped up his play - playing more disciplined and being more selective on his shots.
