Is PSU obligated to NIKE for this season?

The offers that the BOT is voting on next week, is that to begin next year after CFP or would it be a phased change for SOME teams like bball, indoor track, wrestling this season?
If football does mid-season switch how would that impact Allar's NIKE deal in a legal sense? Conflict of interest with PSU's new brand? How would NIKE react to one of their new "models" having to wear another brand on the field?

I know, lots of hypotheticals, just wondering. Any legal minds care to give an opinion?

The information I have is that PSU's contract with Nike expires at the end of the 25-26 athletic calendar. IMO, you won't see Addias until fall 2026.

Usually contracts like that start with a new season not mid season. Allar will be gone before if/when the Adidas contract would kick in...

Curious to see if the deal with Adidas mandates all players to wear Adidas shoes. Assume in the pros players with shoe deals wear those regardless of who sponsors the team. My guess is in the new landscape of college football, players may be able to do the same. If not, someone will sue - sure of that.

Sponsorship agreements with colleges and universities almost always align with the institution fiscal calendar year start/end dates

NFL teams do not have contracts with gear providers. The league has an exclusive contract with Nike to provide uniforms to all teams. The league also has contracts with various companies that permit players who have contracts with those companies to wear its shoes and cloves.

Turning to colleges, what happens if their contracts with gear suppliers interfere with players' ability to strike NIL deals with the competition?

"That's a bingo!"

How long until that happens?
