Wait until we see how the portal plays out…
I was thinking how much it would say about the coaching staff of many players entered the portal but landed in D2 or something.
That said, I could see Joseph doing better under better coaching. Porter and Hull would have value elsewhere. Who doesn’t take a flyer on a tall WR like GHP - who has been stuck under the worst position coach in college football since he started college. I could see a few of our remaining hopes and dreams find another home with better coaching and a chance to win.
Why stay here? No media coverage, terrible coaching, stubborn HC, losing program of laughable levels - unless you have zero hope to play on sundays- NU is not the place to be right now nor in the near future.
I don’t agree that is a universal truth. I think the off-season will demonstrate who is correct here though. The same reasons they came in the first place: play in the B1G, get an NU degree.
Did you watch the other 10 games? We are 3-8 and we had the easiest schedule of any P5 team. This season was a disaster. You guys are too much. Purdue had some impressive wins this year vs. Iowa, MSU and Oregon State. Their offense put up 31 on Ohio State last week. I thought we hung around pretty well today. Could have been an ugly blowout and it wasn't. Great crowd, lovely day. Yes, we need help at a lot of spots, especially QB, but the "sky is falling" posts are a real turnoff.
They came to compete in the B1G. We haven’t been very competitive in this year, which is my cause for concern. The same reasons they came in the first place: play in the B1G, get an NU degree.
We are all very disappointed by the team's performance this year and some negativity creeps in even for us diehard fans. However, the real criticism and deprecation of our program emanates from just a few people who are incessantly negative. Despite coming to an NU board and claiming to be fans, they either hate NU, hate Fitz, or are satisfied with nothing but perfect seasons. Do not let them get you down. Many readers put them on "ignore" and the rest of us just bypass their rants. They are losers. All that said, we sure need some new LBs next year. That would help a ton.Yes, I saw it all. A disappointing season, no doubt, even if we beat the Illini, but the negativism on here is depressing. I've seen much worse NU teams in my lifetime and much more hopeless situations with rotten facilities, no University support, and dwindling crowds in the 70s, 80s and early 90s. Indiana thought they had turned the corner last year and they are now looking at 2-10. Nebraska is still looking for its first winning season under Frost. But wallow in despair if it makes you all feel better. I enjoyed the Wrigley experience despite the result. The team hasn't given up and I'm hoping Fitz can turn it back around next year. He's done it before.
