Is the current police killings/race narrative even built with solid facts?

I would like to start out by saying I can not question African American's feelings. I do not know what it is like to be one. And I do know that they are struggling around the country at higher rates than whites.

The point of this post is questioning the narrative that African Americans get targeted more for their skin color by police. Much of this, is to make people a little less fearful compared to what they see on the news, and to question the narrative itself. I will start by providing simple facts and statistics.

-In 2018 African Americans committed 53% of homicides, 54% of robberies, 37.5% of all violent crime combined, 43.3% of weapons charges. Yet, they only made up 23% of police shootings.

-In 2019, police killed 9 unarmed black men, 19 white men. Down from 32 and 38 in 2015. Just for those that believe there hasn't been a change. Down almost 70%, is a change.

-A study in 2015 within the Philadelphia police department found that black police officers were more likely to shoot blacks than white police officers. Even when comparing racial population of community and police force.

-Only 2 police shootings of unarmed black men last year were considered "unjustified" and both cases ended with charges and pending charges. Even if you look them up for yourself, the other 7 were mostly caught on camera or corroborated by witnesses and seem completely justified.

-Most police shootings on African Americans, are by African American police officers.

-Ferguson, a mostly white police force, was highlighted for stopping African Americans in 85% of police stops, even though African Americans account for 67% of the population. Meaning 18 points higher than population. NYC, a mostly minority police force stopped African Americans on 53% of stops, yet African Americans make up around 24% of the population. Meaning 29 points higher in population. Meaning the minority dept seemingly targets African Americans at a higher rate.

-A study was done by a Harvard professor expecting an obvious targeting on African Americans by white officers, and he found almost the opposite.

-African Americans are much more likely to shoot someone who is white than vice versa. Not a competition or insult, just simply pointing out that there is no real widespread or even modest hunting of African Americans.

-People love to compare different sentences people get. Not only is that extremely broad and dealing with thousands of variables, but the broad stats that say African Americans are more likely to get a higher sentencing for the same case ignores that African Americans are more likely to have a criminal record when being sentenced. Which means a LOT.

I think we are so into comforting our black friends that we also forget to comfort their fears. I cannot speak on what they experience, but I can show facts. We need to do better in legislation that has harmed the black community (in many instances unpurposefully). Help the black community thrive financially so that they do not feel they have to resort to crime to be successful. In that, we will reduce the police interactions in the first place. There is no questioning that there is bad officers out there and no questioning that skin color has likely played a role in some cases. But stay off of social media and find your own information. Stop pretending that lower/middle class police are the problem. Have you ever seen the elitists and corporations so happy to support a movement? Why? Because they arent being blamed, blue collar workers are.

“Solid facts” are not in vogue. Facts derive from the Greeks and Romans, took a 1000 year break and then emerged from the enlightenment which derived from Europe and is the home of whitey. So facts are racist. Haven’t you heard?

Instead of citing data, use your energy to envision a country where data matters. Cause your current one ain’t it.

Trying to have a fact based discussion on this topic is considered racist. You have to bow to mob and your facts be damned. BLM!!! Except those lives taken by other blacks, which is a far far far greater number, those don't really matter much, according to this movement.

IMO, the race narrative is 100% built on personal experiences by the black community. Whether those are experiences with everyday people, experiences with police (I’m talking about things like being pulled over for no reason and being detained because you supposedly look like a suspect), etc. That stuff adds up and then when something like George Floyd happens, it boils over.

As for statistics, everyone knows that you can show all kinds of stuff from all points of view utilizing statistics. It usually depends on what side of the argument you’re on.

Is this country better than it was 50 years ago when it comes to race. Absolutely. Are there still a lot of experiences by black people (with and without the police) based on their race? Absolutely. When you have years and years of experiences, it gets old.

Resisting arrest sets the stage for bad police to go too far, but for some reason blacks are far more likely to resist. No excuse for the police reaction but if you accept the arrest nothing happens. You go to jail then get out and appear in court maybe, if you’re innocent then you can still claim racism for false arrest. But some blacks usually think they got caught because the police are racist and not because they are actually guilty. Everybody knows this to be true and there’s no legitimate counter argument except that it’s racist to mention the truths they don’t like.

All the dancing around having a legit discussion is pathetic. Don’t let them stop you from talking about the whole topic. There’s bad police that need to be weeded out or put in prison when they lose control. But some blacks could try to accept responsibility instead going ghetto and setting a spark. That’s the truth and you can call it racism if it makes you mad but what you won’t do is make a legit counter argument.

This is fair, correct and lines up with stats. There is no statistical difference racially with police killings...but there is with lowers level crime/police abuse for ticky tac ****. Lower level interactions make up the vast majority of interaction - so perception/experience is negative...then those experiences come to boiling point eruption when they see a viral killing.

Another aspect is media. Media aren’t showing whites killed by police too often - it just doesn’t play nationally. So when you only see what you feel is your people getting killed, I am sure that plays a role into the mentality as well.

Soros said several years ago that his life’s mission was to destroy capitalism. Now why he wants to destroy something that he used to become wealthy is beyond me. Just another example of how Liberalism destroys common sense brain cells. So, make no mistake, Soros is funding this mess and Obama and his minions are supporting it as well. Obama’s goal was/is to be the the Supreme World Leader. But, in order to accomplish that, this country’s economy has to be destroyed. Be thankful every day that Trump beat Hilary, or the mission would have been completed.
