Absolutely not! He's far exceeded my wildest expectations from before the season started. Now if he loses the next three or four in a row then I might start to think differently.

Some idiots already have if you look in some other threads. I'll stick by my coach and give him more than 8 games to act like a bunch of spoiled whiners. Not a good game by us and Clemson allowed to play very physical and we lost by just 4.

Nope. I was just reading the game thread and a lot of people sounded like they were ready to give up on the season. Just asking a question.
Most of them are idiots. And you starting this thread, puts you in a similar category.

We lost on the road to a decent team because we missed too many WIDE OPEN shots, turned the ball over, gave up too many rebounds and didn't get ANY help from the refs( and actually got screwed most of the night) and still just lost by 4.

Great learning lesson for this group that was thrown together just 6 months ago.

Coach Pope is a fighter and a basketball GENIUS. He will figure it out and we will be a competitive team by March. Heck he is going to get a TON of grace for that win over Duke!!

I LOVE Coach Pope and am looking forward to playing the Zags on Saturday!!

No. Dude will get 3 years of honeymoon.

If he doesn't make a final four by year 3 he may start to catch a little heat.
Eh....slight disagree. If he doesn't win a first round game in the NCAA, honeymoon will sour quick. Won't be a riot or anything but instead of the marriage having lingerie every night, it will be transitioning to PJs.

No crying on the yacht. No griping (and Pope won't.) Every coach coming here knows what they sign up for.....except maybe BCG.

After that if he don’t exceed expectations of this fans base they will turn on him like a junk yard dawg!!!

Well sir if you’re gonna be a UK fan you have to realize that a large portion of our fanbase are absolute dumbasses with the emotional maturity of a 7 year old girl who just got embarrassed by their parents in front of a boy they like

So don’t take anything you read here too seriously

Now that he’s lost one (a tough road game btw), are we gonna turn on the captain?
No. There was no "honeymoon" for me. For me, the jury is still out on Pope.
I would like to have seen better adjustments from Pope tonight. But, it's just one game. We will see what patterns and trends develop over time. As someone else said, he'll get 3 years minimum to prove himself. That seems fair.

To be clear, not saying he’ll get fired, but if we don’t see obvious improvement by then the fanbase should be upset.

The honeymoon was over after the presser. Coach Pope assembled the best class of all time (arguably) given the insanely short window. He could not have assembled a better team under the circumstances. They run good sets and love each other. You can sense the passion. Road games are just different. It happens sometimes. I do wish Brea got more run, and maybe even Chandler. But to be fair, Oweh had some great looks. I think feeding Amari the ball more was the move.

If we get waxed by Gonzaga, I will take more stock in that. I wish we would just play in Spokane, because I think for KenPom purposes they are counting Seattle as a neutral site, which is wild.

O come on now. Be realistic. Pope is genuine, and he is a human. There are going to be failures and there are going to be triumphes. He has done 99% ✔️ vs how ever many bad outcomes this season. This team is better than the one that beat duke. Let's judge the effort and adjustments vs zags. We were just flat sloppy tonight coupled with bad shooting.

You just knew these ******** were waiting for an L to start thier crap. We lost it happens, was BOUND to happen. Truth is we didn't deserve to win this game Clemson outplayed us. Will not be the last time this happens this year. To denigrate Pope and this team after 1 tough road loss is just childish
